Looks like it could be? Front seems influenced by the HSV grill / airdam.... Suspension height might suggest AWD though.....

LHD though?? Where did the photo come from, may be an Opel or Vauxhaul......

She sent me a email saying what do u think ? I rang her up she hasnt answered yet and her phones off im going to try and get it out of her tommorrow....

im still a bit iffy about it im not 100% sure, i dont want to get my hopes up over it thats why I put it here, the front looks so familiar, i dont know what it is I want to find out.

Did u notice the stearing wheel is on the left ?? ??

LHD = Left Hand Drive......

The headlights are a worry, looks ALOT like basic Falcon headlights....

Yeah I noticed that aswell, minor cosmetic changes maybe?

The lights look exactly like the VY lights withiout the little scoop into the front bumper, and it also has the black that the VX SS front lights have in it..

I dont know...

Having yet another look I reckon XLR8 -V8 has it, its hard to make out but look at the door handles - Magna. The car bra is off the lastest evo lancer, the big bonnet vents are a give away.

I have seen a similarly heavily disguised version around the Southern Suburbs of Adelaide. The headlights are reworked and the lower front skirt inlet is also magna.

Good catch XLRV8!!

I cant stop looking at it, I also noticed the Antenna is on the drivers side up the top see that ??

and the rear quarter panel windows look like VT panels

I reckon its FWD Japanese, Korean, or even Malaysian.
Alot smaller than a Commodore...look how small the wheels and tyres are, and very short rear, meaning small boot.
Too small for the next Magna also i think.
Doesnt look much like the new Galant, on which the next Magna is meant to be based.
Could it be a new Proton or Daewoo?

But it does have alot of clues in it to what i reckon the VE might look like....the centre section has a very Vectra or GM Europe look about it..

If you zoom in on the image and lighten it, the lump that you are assuming is the antenna in actually on the roof itself rather than in line with the pillar - and the rear quarter panels look like current model magna :deal:

VZ SS has slightly sharper lines accross the front grill and air vents on front quarter (after door, before wheel arch). Front grill will look similarish to that in the photo (photo is not VZ). Rims look similar to VY11 R8 (old GTS rims), not the same but have the slim lime look on spoke.

Monaro get SSX front bumper (or very close) and GTO type rear bumper. Gen 1V a real possibility.

I know the above info is very vague but it is real. Source is excellent.

One of the mags has spy pics.

5 Stud wheels - thats fairly rare on Jap cars isn't it ?

Side indicators in the mirrors.

I think the blob near the top of the right hand A pillar may be a GPS antenna.

Dave, you are very observant ;)

Myself, I reckon it's a Commodore. Whether it's VZ remains to be seen. The introduction of a new powerplant (or two - HFV6 & Gen IV) deserves a fresh face - it seems that Vy was just a stop gap to VZ to prepare us for VE.

I have been wrong before but Japanese cars generally don't wear disguises - we've already seen the new Galant (Magna) and it looks nothing like the photo Kannis81 has provided :D

hmmm i'm thinking toyota maybe. it doesn't look big enough for a commodore, and the back end looks very "current model camry" looking a little shorter than a Holden. The roof line doesn't look right either.

Also who's to say whether the image hasn't been flipped horizontally to make it look LHD??

very interesting tho :)

I flipped the image horizontally and this is what it looks like...
If it is a Holden they may have possibly flipped it to give the LHD appearence...who knows...

yeah i tried that too. i also tried zooming into the wheel caps but the picture is too grainy to tell what the logo is. I also noticed the headlights seem too high up off the bumper line and the window line too low for a VT-esque Holden. (or as Ross would say the VT series 7  )

Im stuck on the front of the thing it looks so much like a VY SS Ute with that little cross section on the grill and the lights...

Ive been ringing my girlfriend all night she has her phone off, dont women love being chased after??? lol, and she knows i am busting to know where she got the pic from..

It certainly aint' no VZ IMHO. :)
I think you'll find that the VZ is the stop gap model between the VY and the VE, to introduce the new engines, and will have no more than slightly different front end and tail lights from VY.
Its too much for a small operation like Holden, compared to overseas manufacturers, to do a complete new platform in one go.
VT to VX probably had more changes visually than what VZ will have over VY.
Like Johnno said, it'll be a VT Series 7!
Holden traditionally have done four facelifts (five on the first series) on each platform of Commodores.
EG: VB VC VH VK VL...VN VP VR VS...VT VX VY VZ....VE ?
Apart from engines, the big changes wont be for another 2 years when VE appears.

You could be right, because my first thought on seeing the pic was 'thats the VE' but then thought, nah, its a bit small for that.
The cabin section does look alot like what i think the VE might be.

I just got off the phone with the girlfriend finally and she said an asian appearenced guy in a suite came in, with a cd full of scanned pics and requested 10 high quality a4 prints per image.

She looked through the cd/pics and it was full of test cars, production models and concepts from a variety of makes and models. My gf knows what a VY looks like and she aswell as i did when i first saw this image, thought the front looked similar to the VY, and while the guy was waiting she quickly copied this image to the work computer hardrive, thinking it may be a new commodore...

I love her :) might take her out to dinner tonight :D

lets just hope it is a commy, i still have some doubts though.

But honestly I was convinced it was a commy the moment she sent me the email, just the look of it from the front thats why I wanted to get your opinions to see if it was... and in the links that Ben and 427 provided, most of the people are stil unsure about it being a hyundai, they think its a ford.......

I would have thought there has to be at least one LS1 forum member living near Lang Lang with a digital camera, even in a mobile phone. As to the shots in this thread, it's only when I looked closely at the door frames that I realised the seals are different to the current VY which made me think this definately wasn't a VZ.

I saw this pic in an issue of either wheels or motor a couple of months ago. They said it was an upcoming hyundai model and at the time i thought they must have got it wrong and missed a mule of the upcoming VE. Kind of like about 6 years ago when motor had a scoop of the upcoming Jag X-Type which turned out to be an almost unmasked mule of the AU Falcon. It does look pretty much the way i expect the VE to look simply because of the VYish headlights/grill and the fact that its body is similar to the Audi A6, which is said to be the 'inspiration' for VE. Fooled us all though didnt it.

The headlights have the falcon-look globe layout, and are taller: a minor cosmetic change (it seemed like it anyway) from VY -
VT-VX wasnt that big a change!

No, car companies regularly change their cars gradually, to get the oublic used to the 'new' looks of their cars. They will do a major model change where everything will change but there will still be hints of the old model. The VE will contain hints of the VY and VZ, and the change from VY to VZ is a hint to what the VE should look like from the front end. They didnt go all angular after VX for no reason, it was to get the public used to a sharp angular front end to be introduced on the VE. The five point grill will stay, albeit newly designed, as will the rectangular headlights. HSVMAN, I think you'll find that the VE will look nothing like that Opel Omega conept, simply because of the fact that they will only share a platform, not their body, or even the hardpoints, just the platform, ie. suspension components, engines and transmissions, exhaust systems, fuel tank location, you know basic platform. To be honest i'd imagine VE to look more like the VZ from the front end than the Opel Omega concept.
