Hi guys,

After watching the fun had at the Dutton Rally, I am very interested in joining a local (Sydney) car club that holds driving events etc every now and then. Obviously I would prefer to be part of a Commodore club.

If anyone has some clubs they can recommend and some contact details it would be much appreciated. Perhaps some detail on what it is a car club might get up to (events, meetings, cruises etc). It may even turn out that there is an LS1.com Car Club? Wouldn't that be nice!

Cheers,
BJS05L

Yeah, ones that do organised driving events would be great. I am starting to work on the car and as it becomes more fun to drive, motorkana style events would be a great way of testing the car (and myself).

Years ago in the distant past when I was young there was a club in Sydney called the "Competetive Drivers Association". I used to go along and race at track days, hillclimbs etc. I don't know if it is still a registered car club but they used to put on some good events. Failing that give Oran Park or Eastern Ck tracks a ring and they should be able to supply you with the names and phone numbers of clubs etc.

Could try the Commodore Performance Club (www.commperformance.com) (not that im biased or anything :D).

Hold regular track days, dyno day, drags, skidpans things like that. Not a registered car club, but still - its free to join, and most events are fairly cheap (though the trackdays are mostly held on no speed limit days, so arent timed/competitive).

Thanks for the info Rt! and Wazza. I will look into the Commodore Performance Club, I would prefer a registered club as it is mentioned in the license requirements for the Dutton which I would like to go in next year.

I also checked out the CAMS website and found the Holden Sporting Car Club Of NSW - but unfortunately the email contact was no longer valid.

In my searching I came across the Sydney Commodore Connection Car Club. There is a very interesting note from a Miss Calais(the founder) regarding the temporary closure of the club. I'm certain there is more to it than face value, but it almost puts me off joining a car club altogether. The website is:

http://www.sydneycommodoreconnection.org/

It's a shame this happened within the Commodore community.

There is a Sydney Commodore Club(thanks Joeboss), I just hope it's not run by the same people Miss Calais mentions.......

Yeah I was a member of that club as well.

It got real quiet on there and barely anyone would turn up to events, dunno what went on although there were a few rumours going round. Don't know how much truth was in them though.

Commperformance is a great club, great bunch of guys and gals.

Tark :D

BJS05L theres definately more to it than face value, youre only getting one side of the story by looking at her site. If you want to actually know what went on, feel free to PM me, but its nowhere near as interesting (or devious) as she makes out.

Figured as much Wazza. I checked out the Commodore Performance Club link you posted. The "biased" comment makes sense now..... ,)

I will register on the website and see how it goes. Wouldn't mind going to one of your dyno days, particularly the Nowra one if it happens (I am an ex Nowra boy - plus it's a good cruise down there).

Good stuff mate :) Nowra dyno day will definately happen. More than likely it will be towards the end of the year, as we've just had a dyno day :) Give people a chance to do some mods :D

If youre prepared to put the money up to make it a registered and CAMS affiliated club, you can be in charge of the money on CPC :D
