Is anyone running a dominator stall convertor behind an LS1?

Are they as effecint as a yank convertor?

Ive had 2 Dominators and have both been great. Cant comment on the Yank converters other than the dismal customer service.

running a 4200 dominator with lock up, previously a 2600 and this was tested back to back with an expensive Yank converter.

No difference between Yank and the Dominator

Back that with local warranty and service from Jason and Peter who stand behind what they do.

Easy choice in my book

On the Topic of Auto's how have you boys gone with your Auto Strength?

Im just interested as to what these Auto's can take in stock form and at what point they need to be modified..

Thanks

If your talking about the 4 speed auto 4l60e etc they are as weak as p-ss in standard form, they fail behind standard V6's.

You can get them modified to handle power but your looking at $3-4k.

I'd pick Yank/TCI over any locally made converter. They test their product on GM's transmission dyno, NO ONE else does. Dominator have never been able to supply me specs on their converters, let alone efficiency rating. Yank can, see here:

http://www.converter.cc/yank_vs_competition.htm

I agree, Yank has been hard to get hold of, but they've moved location and employed more people to answer the phone, assist in queries etc. TCI's new converters represent good value for money.

I've not tried Dominator, but have tried 4 different Yank converters. IMO the SY3500 is the best for a street car running street tyres, the SS series best for cars running slicks.

I have been running a Dominator 3500 stall with full lock up. It is excelent would not leave home without one. :D
Jason is very helpful and listens to what you want and gives his recomendations.

I recommend you contact Craigs Automatics a forum sponsor, he is a Dominator dealer and will look after you.

And can handle 187 plus runs down the blacktop with no modifications whatsoever from stock :) ...........

You've had 187 passes with a dead stock transmission?

Someone telling fibs here?

Fibs my :booty: it's dead ex factory stock with a Stall Converter tacked on for good measure and actually done in excess of 187 runs as I'm not counting those times slips that I have not bothered to retrive from the tower.or simply misplaced.....

 of course if you care to lay a lazy ten grand on it.... I'm covered :p

I have done around 70 passes with a std transmission 3500 stally and a very heavy foot.

And I fork out for a tranny upgrade on a 4 month old car and it loses 1st within 6 weeks. Go figure!? Make sure you fit large hoses to your tranny cooler.

So what does that make redhot SS who runs 12.38 unopened / stock auto with a 3500
stall non-lockup converter and no trans cooler?....that's another one that makes regular visit's to the track
