Holden are keeping fairly tight lipped about fuel consumption of the CX8/LX8 adventra
The Window energy rating of the LX8 was 15.2L/100Km (from memory but I could be wrong ) :driving:
Any way as there is no details in the catalogue I want to hear from owners of adventras to post actual fuel consumption figures.
I am concidering buying an LX8 in the next few weeks but I have heard rumors of fuel consumption being around 20 - 21 L/100Km for normal driving.
I drove one last weekend for a couple of hours on and off road and it didn't seem heavy on fuel to me
Cheers

A few owners say they are getting mid to high 13L/100 k's hwy out of their Adventra. Personally I think the fuel consumpsion is over hyped unless you have your foot planted to the go switch constantly.

i do not own one, but i hired one from AVIS the other week, for 4 days. Around town it was 20l/100km, on the highway it got down to 12ish, averaged around 15 for a 1000km trip. It had 14,000km on it.

I drove one on the weekend. I hit the reset button while doing 40 - 45km and it was using around 17 - 19 litres. Hopped into my friend’s AUII did the same thing and it was using easily below 10.
I did about 110 km down a dirt road and the car handled really well. Put the boot into it around a dirt road corner and it was possible to get it the car sliding. Its handling would shit all over most normal 4WD’s. I went up and down very steep dirt hills and through a creek and it did it all easily. It’s no full on 4WD but handles quite a lot of stuff. I couldn’t even tell the extra weight of the 4WD.

I have an LX8. The worst figure I've got was 21l/100km for mostly urban driving: you know, drive for about 1km between traffic lights, and dragging off those little cars with sewage pipes sticking out the back. The best I did out of one full tank was 13.4L/100Km, for mostly motorway driving, with the only urban driving involved getting from the motorways to home and to the golf club.
What makes it seem worse is the 75-litre tank: you seem to be forever topping up. Could have done with a 90-100-litre tank: I mean if they were worried about the weight, the vehicle already weighs nearly 2k/kg, so the extra capacity tank wouldn't have made much difference!! I still love my LX8...my wife now wants one, so the VE might convince me to let her have mine... ;)
This months 4x4 Australia magazine does a comparo between the Adventra LX8, Ford Territory Ghia and Kluger Grande.
No surprises that the Kluger used the least amount of fuel - they quote approx 13.3l/100km.
What's more surprising is they found the Adventra more thrifty than the Territory! The Adventra got 15.8l/100km and the Territory 16.8l/100km.
That surprises me as all I'd ever heard was that the Adventra was a thrirsty bugger - this is a reasonable sort of consumption in my opinion!

6000 kms....Around town they like a drink....especially if you have a heavy right foot. However on the open road I am seeing a lot of 13ish's and a few trips low 12's. Throw a few hills in with a heavy foot and you can forget seeing 12-13 though. One thing I have noticed is when you pull up to fill up, the computer says... 13.5l/100 and you have used 65l. but you wont even get 60 into it. and thats on every fill, so the trip computer does overestimate a bit. (which is better than the reverse)

check your users manual it tells you how to calibrate the trip computer!!
I have done it to my statesman and calais and it is with in 1/2 to 1litre every tank!!

I have an LX8, bought mid May, now with 5030 km on it. First 4 days involved 1800km of highway travel, and it was serviced on the 5th. Average fuel consumption, new, for the highway stuff was 13.7l/100km. Which gave a highway range in the mid 500s which was OK.
Now with 5k on it, highway driving seems to be about 1l/100km better, I see figures in the mid to high 12s, this level motorway type stuff at or near the speed limits of 100/110.
I do tend to drive the car pretty gently 99.9% of the time. I have a 5.7l Camaro for the V8 fun times, this car was bought to carry loads and travel on unmade road surfaces etc. the purpose for which it was designed.
For the past 3800km, the overall average consumption is hovering around 16l/100km which I consider to be acceptable given the vehicle type. Hopefully some editing late this month will bring some improvements.
With gentle handling I expect that most drivers would get average figures in the 16 or 17 l/100km bracket, heavier use of the right pedal will significantly change that, as it does for any V8 vehicle.
My computer seems to estimate fuel usage within 1-2 litres on nearly every fill, as another poster said, you can calibrate it if you chose.

please post me to let me know how the edit goes everyone talks about power improvments after an edit but never economy!

Holden loaned us a LX8 for the Brisbane Cruse4ACure and I posted the fuel consumption numbers after the run. Since the upgrade of the forum the thread has been deleted :(

Best I ever saw was 13.5 or 13.6 for an extended steady cruise-control 110km/h unladen, one person... high teens/low 20s around town
