Exec - 175kw, A4
Acclaim - 190kw, A5
SV6 - 190kw, M6 or A5, 1549kg, (adds strut brace)
Berlina - 190kw, A5
also illuminated vanity mirrors now standard across range apparently. Bit surprised to see acclaim get the 190kw engine, although exec and acclaim were getting very close in specification, so it serves to differentiate them further
On another topic...I havent seen any pics or specs for SV8 at all - has it been given the pork sword?
Local holden dealer says that SV8 sales have been ice cold compared to SS...

I'm looking at the Holden ordering procedure and the 190kw engine is only available on Calais,SV6,Statesman and Caprice. All other models are 175kw and 4 spd auto.

This concurs with what I have been told by our fleet manager.

I would think the Adventra would also get the 190kw'er?

looks like my source may be a bit wrong then :(
anyway, good to see the SV8 still around, however while the SV6 is a better sounding name than S, i think it sends the wrong message about product grouping.
The S is a 6cyl version of the SS, wheras the exec is the 6 cyl version of the SV8. With the new name, it makes the SV6 sound like the 6cyl version of the SV8. There is two distinct product lines... one with more luxury stuff than the other. I think that the new name sort of confuses the two.

Agree. The SV6 is really an SS6.
To add to the confusion, if we see a slight price increase in the SV6, which is what has been tipped, the SV6 and SV8 should be priced about the same.
Maybe in time the SV8 will move upmarket toward the SS? The SS never used to have all the options it has, and was more like what the SV8 is now. This would necessitate the SS moving further up to be more like an HSV offering, but this seems to be where the Calais is being positioned.
I like the headlights oh so much better. One of the reasons I've always been drawn to the VY series Calais / Berlina as opposed to the SS and SV8. For me, that bullseye blip "cheapened" the front end.
any chance the sv6 will cost under 40k?

I have heard RRP = $42K.
Wait a few months for the hype to settle. Perhaps buy an '04 plated VZ in Jan/Feb and you will get below $40k.

is it just me or does the new SV8 wheels look better than the SS. I wonder if you can choose one or the other.

They look the same as the VYII SV8 wheels.
I am sure some preple will want the SS wheels on their SV8 so yes, I think a dealer would be happy to give you SV8 (17") wheels as a replacement for your SS (18") wheels, and if the dealer won't, someone on this thread with a VYII or VZ SV8 would.

Whilst the Exec and SV8 share (untill now) similar exterior and interior finishings the Exec doesnt have side air bags, full elects, traction, FE2 etc so is plainly focused at fleet markets.
SV8 is now differentiated slightly more in appearance with SS running gear as before. And yes it does look to be more attractive than before.
Acclaim has same eng as Exec too.

So SV8 = SV6 exterior + Exec interior + V8 + LSD?
