Took delivery of my new M6 SV8 yesterday, Wow what an engine!!! Thrilled with the car and stunned with its economy on the freeway, getting in the 10s/100km brand new. Only question is what speed should it be idling at, it seems way too fast. Seems to be 900rpm - 950rpm or 1000rpm with the A/cond on. Is this unusual???

Give it 1000kms to settle a bit. Accessories like AC will push the idle up a little. Mine idles at 650RPM without acessories. I think a manual idles a little higher, like 750RPM. So adding 100RPM for accessories sounds reasonable, as you dont want it to bog when you take off.

Mine idles at 850-900 rpm (stock).

True words - when my Crewman was new it idled around the 900rpm mark, and a bit higher with the A/C on. Now with 17K on the clock it idles on a steady 800rpm. The auto will idle with a bit less due to the load of the torque converter etc.
