best/cheapest place for tripod?

hey guys,
thinking of getting a tripod for my digi cam, just wondering where is the best place in sydney that anyone here can recomend?
( i have a canon powershot A70)

and also, might be a stupid question but are tripods universal?
as in would fit my digi cam, and also, say a friends video camera?

im kinda new to the photography side of things

although the threads are the same, I would use a video camera tripod for a video camera, and a lighter tripod for still photography. Why? Video cameras need a tripod that is good for smooth panning/tilting usually with a fluid head - even if you are not a serious videographer i would recommend it. Tell me what sort of video camera you are using and i will tell ya what tripod i recommend for it. (depends on weight and size)
