I am in the process of getting quotes to have the
front end of my car resprayed. The respray includes
front bar, spoiler and bonnet (including lapping the
two front guards to ensure a good colour match).
The colour is Phantom. The quotes have ranged
from $800 to $990. Do these quotes seem reasonable?
Funnily enough, one of the dearest quoters told me
there was no need to lap the guards, just paint the
bonnet, which I have since found out could end up
with a bad mismatch. Any opinions appreciated.
Thanks

That's a pretty good quote, just had mine done only a month ago :D just over $1100 was full front end incl guards, they had some stone chips on them anyway so might as well get it done in one, and what a job they did :D I was stoked to see the finished product, that cost incl fitting the munro front end and lights, just gave it all to them and they did the rest, could of saved some money by fitting it myself, but there the experts, I'd probably scratch the dam thing putting it on. they lined up the foggies and headlights correctly too. Here's a pic when finished, very VERY good paint match. :D

Good painting is not cheap. Remember though that where your cars panels change their shape it looks like you are looking at a slightly different colour. Most painters that I know always paint to a change in panel shape so it does not look as different with colour match, I have seen the whole side of a car painted for just one dent in the door because it could not be successfully matched (Mitsubishi Pajero). I would not baulk at those prices for a front end repaint, but if they only do the bonnet you will probably notice the difference on the top of the guards.

Thanks guys. There was no way I was going to get
just the bonnet reprayed, as I had heard of how bad
it can look if not matched correctly. Looks like I have
got some pretty good quotes then, just have to pick
the place to get it done now.
BTW...Very tidy ute BlueVU

Forgot to put something in last post, make sure they cover engine bay, found out there is some overspray on my twin covers, (one thing I checked religously when I got car back is look for overspray, wasnt leaving if I found some) it was same colour anyway, but has the rough affect so I just threw some fine cut cleaner over it and brought it back as good as new..thats if you have the twin covers or no covers at all dont worry too much about it then. :)

Thanks for the tip mate. I have the twin covers in
red, so they wouldnt look too good covered in black
mist.

Man, I love this forum... I'm fitting a new front (and rear) bar to my ute very soon, that'll give me a good idea of what I should expect to pay.

And no, it's not a Monaro front bar ;-)

I got my front bar, rear bar, and one of the side skirts repainted for $600. That was from a Holden panel shop... I thought it was quite reasonable.

The front bar and spoiler is actually only $300 to have done alone.
The bonnet is $500 due to the guards being done as well.

Hey Rod,
Be keen to see how she comes up, as I am looking at the same thing (front respray phantom) but will probably wait until I do the epic journey from Newcastle to up there at the end of the year. (I think...postings out TOMORROW)

Cheers
Simo

Hey Simo
Yeah, I am pretty keen to see how it turns out as well. You always
worry that you have picked the right place. Good luck with your trip,
look forward to catching up with you.

PS...I can email you some photos of the spray job on completion if
you like
