Attended a funeral in Essendon today, on the way to dropping the missus off at work, in Lorimer St Port Melbourne I passed a black Monaro with TA- rego heading for Holden. Split pipes, raised filler and front airdam. No hoodscoops. :)
Firstly, the revised bodywork and wheels look better than the yellow car pictures - the Monaro curves just don't translate well to film. :D
Secondly, someone in 'the know' must have an idea of what is happening with these by now. That's three cars I've seen or heard of now with no scoops. This one looked complete, badges and fully finished and I'm guessing it's an early build example.
Thirdly, for a while mine was the only Barbados Monaro I'd seen. Now I've seen a heap and I'm pissed off, because I thought it was an exclusive colour. A dude just 'round the corner from me has one. Nothing to do with the '05 just wanted to vent!

If I worked at Holden, I'd be fighting very hard to make the scoop an option.
It makes the car look very aggresive, and some people wont buy the car if thats not their taste.
Perhaps they are thinking the same as me and running both bonnet types?

can't remember the thread off the top of my head, but I did post on it that I had seen VZ Monaro's with and without bonnet scoops in production trim. They were side by side, although that was some months ago. I have only seen 'scooped' monaros since.
BTW, in an earlier VZ thread I mentioned the possibility of Devil Yellow SS's. I have now had it confirmed that at this stage that car/colour combo is not happening (DAMN!!) :(

I've seen one of the new light blue Monaro's on the outskirts of Melbourne and there was no scoops on that one.

They should be optional on both the Monaro and GTO. People are split on what they prefer here as well, but the new hood does seem to be going a long ways to pleasing the old school purists.
Personally I would opt to not have them on mine, and the US aftermarket is coming up with better looking hoods than what comes stock.

My opinion is let the Americans have the scoops they want so bad we dont need that stupid rice on the Monaro! Having seen seen both (only pictures though) they dont seem to work on the Monaro, but looked ok with the US GTO front. I really hope the scoops are not standard! :box:

It would be fine by me if they were an option, but hopefully people will use their disgression and NOT option them. And on a similar note: No! Spoilers!

Putting spoilers on a Monaro is like putting a twin system on a stock 202 HJ ute...........just bloody awful! :bash:
