Had a lucky escape this morning when some stupid lady reversed into my car with her "whitegoods" camry. Was waiting for the lights to change and she reversed straight out into the side of the car..
Jumped out fuming and there wasnt a single mark! Looks like she hit square on the tire and left a mark on the rubber but missed the rim and paintwork!!
Another half a foot left or right and it would have been ugly!
I had visions of a huge dent in the quarter panel but thank goodness its fine!
Then moments later I watched as she almost backed into another car.. how some people get their licence is beyond me. Nice enough lady, but what a bad driver!!!

Lucky boy !
Spent the weekend driving to Baradine in western NSW. Great trip - managed some serious speeds in 5th gear out there.
Driving back in the wet (and great to see some rain out there) and came to Lithgow. Heading out of Lithgow (Bells Line of Rd) and coming up the big hill , XR8 ute in front of me , putting some pressure on him to move over , second corner in second gear , too much throttle from the XR8 , mother in law in my car starts to scream just as........
The XR8 does a nice 270/360 lose in the wet right in front of me and ends up on the wrong side of the road facing backwards down the hill. Misses the rock wall and no traffic coming down the hill. One lucky boy.
Hopefully he took it a little easier and went back to Lithgow for an underpants change.

Hey what are the odds of that happening! Is the steering all OK or do you need an alignment from it?

Steering is fine.. luckily she wasnt going too fast when she hit so all seems to be ok. Even the mark on the tire is tiny.. Ive had worst marks from potholes..
From now on Im wrapping my car up in bubblewrap before I go driving

Since when is the driver behind responsible for the driver in front driving far in excess of their skills.......
A few years back I had the reverse of veate happen, some pimply little P plater was trying to hurry me up (in my HX V8 Kingswood) and so I obliged once we hit some twisty stuff, the roads were just getting wet from rain, I was oversteering my way through the corners and the P plater did a beautiful spin, 270 degrees nose into embankment, no damage, and no cars coming the other way. As far as I'm concerned in my instance the P plater was at fault because he outdrove himself while trying to keep up with me. Using your logic, it's my fault for pushing him (or is it dragging him along).......
People need to take responsibility for their own actions and not blame others.. If I came up behind you sitting on your rear bumper, are you going to speed up,,,,, NO, and if you do and something happens, it was your decision to speed up.....

Yeah I don't necessarily agree with everyone on this topic. Maybe it's not the nicest thing to do to ride on someones tail to pressure them to pull over, but then again, it's only courteous to pull left and let other motorists pass. So I see faults on both sides here, but in all honesty, veeate wasn't in the wrong. The XR8 driver should've known his limits and not let anything else pressure him to do something stupid. Driving with your emotions can become dangerous.
Been a few years since ive been up bell, but i seem to recall that part of the road being two lanes up and out of lithgow (after the corner @ the bottom), over scenic?
But meh..

It doesn't matter who's at fault if your dead. AND IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.
Having said that, what Veeate did may not have been the best thing to do under the road conditions, but you can't blame him for the actions of the XR8 driver INFRONT OF HIM! The XR8 driver knew what he was doing - or more to the point didn't know what he was doing.
I am always, ALWAYS coming across people doing about 90 on the Southern Expressway in the right lane. Do I sit on their ass and 'pressure them to move over'? No, I sit at the proper distance and make sure that if they slammed in their bakes I would not become mush.
Sure I am pissed and want to strangle them but I do not show it. I remain calm and wait for them....if I were to arrive a few minutes later who cares.
You have to remember that some people will become flustered and nervous when a big, agressive looking Holden (or any other car fot that matter) is sitting on their ass.

Interesting opinions. Each to their own. But let me clarify:-
1/ When i said 'pressure' i meant simply i also pulled out to overtake in the overtaking lane. Maybe i used the wrong term. I guess i was under the impression , from the way he was driving , that he thought he was under pressure to drive fast. The way he took the first corner sideways probably gave it away. Maybe he was showing off ?
2/ He lost it all on his own. He lost it at low speed (40kmh). And he never once got off the throttle till he had completely lost it.
3/ I stopped , he gave me a wave , and i kept going.
Gotta take responsibility for your own actions guys (and girls).
Driving on our roads is bloody dangerous and is to be taken seriously. If i contributed in any way to this incident then i apologise. I suspect however that on reflection the guy in the XR8 will know that it was his fault and his fault alone.

Also the fact that he owns a XR8 would make you think that he has some experience behind the wheel, and wouldnt feel intimidated/pressured by cars behind him. (you would assume.)
Why would you say that?
There are ricers all over the place that would easily take it to a R8 but their drivers would have no idea how to control a car of that power.
I hate people who sit below the speed limit and refuse to move over, or even let you pass, its very frustrating when you get to a short overtaking zone and the dickhead speeds up to block you, if they do this then i will be inclined to put some pressure on them.

I guess being a V8 ute in the wet with no traction control makes for a potentially dnagerous situation. Luckily no one was hurt.
Probably the XR8 ute guy was a little intimidated with a Commodore? behind him but if he had moved over and let Veeate past possibly the incident wouldn't of occurred.

Hmmm,
I didn't realise you had to show a 'some experience behind the wheel' membership card to buy a highly powered vehicle. ;)
