im probably not the first to spot it but in a recent wheels magazine there was an article about the 2007 holden barina.

Which looks very similar to the car you can see in the spy photos taken of the VZ monaro.

nice pick up mate ;) wonder if the person who took the spy photo above could englighten us perhaps??? The front looks very noice but the back hmm not to my liking

The car in front of the Monaro is the new Astra which is already out in Europe, and should be released here very soon.
The current Astra sold here will continue as the 'Astra Classic' i think, along side the new model.
It will be a fair bit cheaper than the new Astra, and is built somewhere in the old Eastern Block, Czech Republic or Hungary?

thanks V-car, jeez there is alot of similarity, but the wheel arches are th giveaway now that ive had a closer look.

Astra Classic is built in Poland.

Yeah, unfortunately the Barina is getting too expensive and cannot compete with Echo.

in the article in wheels, it says that the shaping will be based upon FIAT designs
