They'll probably get off with a slap on the wrist because it was accidental and of no benefit - just like SBR and Perkins...
"Honestly, it was just accidental that we stuck white vinyl over the identification on the side of the truck - I just asked the apprentice to white-out the mistake in the truck's log-book and he thought I said "truck's logos". Then the driver got lost and accidentally drove 600kms to Woomera when he was just trying to find the new Maccas in Adelaide. So by the time we got to Woomera the truck ran out of gas at the air-strip there and we had to use the race car to try to find some more fuel, and drove round and round the air-field for 6 hours until they ran out of gas too, but by that time the truck driver had remembered to switch to the belly-tanks, and so we loaded up and went home. But it was all just one big mistake and nothing was gained from it. We even missed out on Maccas". True! ;)
Last post on the CAMS site said it was still in progress at 3.15, but that the Supreme Court had knocked back Dynamic's request to have it postponed or to use the Courts until they had exhausted the full CAMS system of appeal. Don't like their chances much this time, since CAMS has decided to actually impose real penalties from Perkins' incident onwards. Rots o' ruck! :burnout: :driving:

The fine is the wrong verdict, especially during the new era of tough penalties being handed out for any misdemeanours.

Team Dynamic should be banned from racing for the at least 3 races this year PLUS Bathurst, IMHO. The team were cheating. What the team did was a bit like an armed robbery with the bandits wearing balaclavas. No ifs, buts, maybes.

This issue perhaps should be discussed in a separate thread from this Sandown thread.

Dynamik appeals over stewards' decision
Release Date: 11/09/2004
Team Dynamik has expressed disappointment with today’s stewards’ decision over alleged testing breaches by Team Dynamik at Woomera last month. Team Dynamik immediately lodged an appeal in relation to all charges and penalties imposed.

Team Dynamik was not engaged in any testing. The vehicle concerned was in the possession of a third party completing a scientific evaluation for purposes other than racing.

Stewards, after an exhaustive inquiry over two days of the Sandown meeting, made a finding against Team Dynamik in relation to four charges of breaches to the V8 Supercar Rules.

Team Dynamik principal Kieran Wills said that Team Dynamik was disappointed that any charges were upheld in the circumstances of the alleged conduct.

“We simply do not agree or accept that Team Dynamik was engaged in any illegal testing for racing purposes,” he said.

“A third party, and not Team Dynamik, was engaged in developing intellectual property for commercial purposes outside of motor racing which could have considerable benefits, both economically and environmentally, for the Australian public.”

“The technology being assessed at Woomera is a product that will benefit motorists and transport operators in Australia,” Mr Wills said.

“It is significant that the stewards found that there was a desire by Team Dynamik not to breach the rules.

“This Inquiry reflects a serious weakness and deficiency in the current judicial rules under the AVESCO operations manual which requires a total review in the interests of the sport,” he said.

“I have been personally disappointed with various press releases and public comment by senior officials of AVESCO and TEGA over the past weeks prior to any hearing by the stewards,” Wills said,” which I feel is unfair and unsportsmanlike.”

“The hearings have at last given us an opportunity to put our case.”

“I would also like to personally state my total faith and confidence in Race Director Oscar Fiorinotto and the Team Dynamik drivers and personnel.”

Mr Wills said Team Dynamik was keen to move on in the best interests of motorsport. “Now we just want to get on with the motor racing at Sandown where we have every chance of doing well.”

Fords were too strong, just too good. Meanwhile, the Holden teams had their problems.

I wonder if the Ford teams gambled on a dry race setup whereas the red teams went the safer option?

Any thoughts? Predictions for Bathurst?

I only caught highlights however I would say there was some luck that whenever a spinning car took out others it didn't seem to hurt as many higher placed Fords as compared to say Skaife getting hit by a badly damaged car where the driver probably had no real idea who else was around him. Ambrose and his new co-driver seem to be a great fit and didn't lose too much speed when Ritter (spell?) took over while SBR, overall, seem to in a zone of excellence atm. If (from a FF perspective) more Ford teams could share the front running with SBR as Holden have amongst a few more teams it will make Bathurst far more exciting for the duration of the race.

You mentioned dry/wet setups...was weather any factor during the race as I seemed to see more cars then normal spinning off and never really caught any commentary to hear any explanations? I would (ignorantly) assume a wet setup results in softer suspension setups which in a dry race day causes higher lap times. Am I way off base here?

SBR sure seem to ahve the wood on everyone else in the Ford camp. There's SBR and then a huge gap to the others.
With the supension set-up, for wet weather they soften it up to allow more body roll and more front to rear weight transfer in order to improve traction. However, if it then dries out, this is no longer the optimum set-up for the dry and as a result, times get slower unless they then tighten it all up again. :driving:

Fords were too strong, just too good. Meanwhile, the Holden teams had their problems.

I wonder if the Ford teams gambled on a dry race setup whereas the red teams went the safer option?

Any thoughts? Predictions for Bathurst?

Ambrose may have been faster for most of the day, but after Ritter's spin they were back in tenth or thereabouts and then...

Seton got pushed by a Team Dynamic car (I think) and ended up sideways in front of Skaifey who was I think leading at the time and laying down some pretty impressive lap times.

Bright got spun by one of the backmarkers and ended up well down

McConville got baulked by another backmarker

Ambrose was fast but for once it seemed like it was holden's taking out holden's instead of ford's taking out ford's. And this round...the luck all went in SBR's direction.

As for bathurst....

Seriously hard to go past those combo's made up of permanent drivers.
Murphy and Kelly have to be right at the tope of the tree again this year.

Was a excellent race for the ford fans, a 1,2,3 finish qith 5 of the seven cars on the lead lap being fords.
Ambrose being the standout fastest guy on the track deserved the win, and ingall predicted a big finish early on in the race when they did the first driver change.
The cat car looked pretty good when loundes was driving it early but slowed towards the middle of the race and got bashed around by others.
Apparently the 17 DJR car is an all new car this round so it will be interesting if it is also fast at bathurst and wasn't a one off thing for em finishing 3rd.
But it looks like the usuall suspects this year will be good at bathurst, with SBR the best of the fords and DJR, BJR and FPR the best smokies, while for holden ya would have to say Kmart, PWR as the top two with HRT an GRM as the best of the rest. Oh yeah an LPR with the richo's should do ok as well.
Here's hoping for a close, hard race that stays dry an not to many safety car periods and a FORD win at the end!! :D
Cheers....nath
