Anyone know if a diesel mechanic in Brisbane. I have a Ford Transit van (97) with a stuffed injector pump and a turbo that doesnt produce boost. Its a work van so we dont want to spend huge amounts on it but its leaking fuel onto the manifold atm.

Any ideas of were to send it??

Edit: where is that damn spellcheck......

Brisbane Mechanical. Ph 33488009 speak to Russell. They are at Ingleston Rd Wakerly (near Wynnum) don't know if that is your area but he does all my work trucks and I trust him because he tells it like it is, no BS. Tell him you are a friend of mine and he'll look after you because I spend around 20k a month with him. You'll have to use my real name though

Sounds like a problem I just had. If it is leaking from the back lower part of the pump
it might be the rotor position sensor and replacement parts are no longer made.
the sensor is potted in resin and might be repairable. A mechanic had a go at it
for me and it was unsucessful. I ended up getting a replacement pump $$$$$.
Good luck

Quite and old thread my friend but good info nonetheless.

To be honest the transits are buckets of shit, no Idea how they are so successful in Europe. Mate ran 2, one van one rigid tray, never ending issues from new. His weren't only ones, gearbox/turbo/drivetrain failures. I drove one from Gold Coast to Brisbane with a seized turbo, had no option with the cargo on it unfortunately.

I had an 04 Transit and it was a bucket of $hit, one failed gearbox, 3 clutchs and a grabbed piston in 200000km but I have since had an 08 Transit with the common rail diesel and 6 speed, it had heaps of power and bar 1 electrical problem that the local Ford dealer couldnt fix it did 160000km without any other failures, all of those kms were with it fully loaded to 3500kgs too. I now have a 2012 Transit (has 2000km on it) and it doesnt go as well as the 08, it is supposed to have 15 more horesepower but I think it may have a DPF making it gutless. FWIW the later transits with the gearstick on the dash have terrible ergonomics in the cab, you have to lean foward from the drivers position to get to the heater controls, radio and mirror controls, very poor design IMHO, the older ones were better laided out.

I find these forums are great sources of timeless information.
They have solved many problems for me.
I Google my problem, find a thread and follow to a useful reply.
I hope to fix my current Transit problem and leave an answer somewhere on line
for the next poor sucker on this one way trip (Fix Or Repair Daily)

Go Well
