Im going out to WSID this weekend and want some cheaper chaser/dodgey rubber and rims to use on the drag way as i dont want to use my brand new falkens!!
Anyone know where i could get a pair and how much they would cost??

There is a set of 15x6 chasers with tyres at Owen Tyres on Winbourne Rd Brookvale. If you go down and talk to Max he will be able to help you out. I have a set of 15x7 chasers down there, but they're mine and have semi comps on them, you can borrow the rims but not the tyres, they would have a pair of crap tyres to fit up. Also Chris (weevil_LS1) has a set of chasers down there, but he wants his back.

Hey Ryzz - why would you use the crap tyres at the drag strip when you are trying to go fast and need maximum traction???? I see people do this a lot and I just don't get it!
A few small burn-outs to clear the water (no need to smoke up street tyres big time) and a few runs down the drag strip will not wear your good rubber out very much! Believe me you will be much happier (your face will be like this - :D ) with your day at the strip if you use the best tyres you can rather than try and fit dodgy/crap rubber on chasers.

Check the trading post mate, few dealers around the homebush area seem to be advertising chasers w/ good rubber starting from $100 for 4.... gonna go pick a set up myself for the skidpan/track days coming up :D

Hah! Once again for skidpan I can understand but for a track day surely you want to go as FAST as you can right? That means you will need the best rubber you can afford to strap on for the track! - Also bigger wheels with lower profile tyres equals more grip/less sidewall flex, and better brake cooling, plus less unsprung weight. Softer tyre compound = more tyre grip.
Anway to each their own I suppose but I don't get it :D

V8 + chasers + race track = BIG TIME FUN!!
Did a 2:01 around eastern creek on chasers, so yeah, they are a bit slow around the track.
True on the brake cooling though.
Just pump them up to 45psi, no sidewall flex then.
Less unsprung weight. When the rest of the car weights the best part of 1.7 tonnes, wheels that are a couple of kilos heavier don't do much.
Soft compound, RE92s or turanzas are plenty soft!

Ahhh but you see, i have a good reason :D Im waiting to get some decent wheels before getting decent rubber, my current wheels on the beast im taking to the track has 2x remoulds rated to 140km/h on the rear, dont wanna spend $200 per tyre to get rubber on a set of rims that shall be tossed when i find the wheels i want, and im not stupid enough to run remoulds around the track...... hence chasers with stock rubber will be better than what i currently have :D

Yea but you didn't have cheap-as-chips or "dodgy" rubber on them did you mate :D With decent rubber sure chasers are fine, but the larger diameter alloys are better!

Ryan,
I just use my street tyres.
On my current set I went to the Drag Nats in feb and ran a day and a half on them before trying some smaller rims. I have also been to the creek twice since, and I am still expecting to get over 50k out of them.
