A VY bonnet wont fit a VX guard so I doubt it would , you would need new guards, lights, bumper, grill, wiper panel etc

actully a VZ monaro bonnet is the same shape of its previous models just now it has the bonnet vents it is the same as any of the vt-vx-v2. at the VZ launch i was chattingo to a bloke that had a VU ss ute and he was going to get one as soon as part numbers were released good luck and make sure u take pics for us..

Not having had a close look as yet to the new Monaro, do the vents serve a purpose for a induction system that I have seen on cars in the U.S, or is it for cosmetic looks only here?
I too am keen to put this style of bonnet on the ex chaser. :D

i dont believe the are functional atm, they probably slow the car down truth be told

So would you think they would be blocked or free flowing , any cool air to the motor is a good thing but, when raining would make a bit of a mess of the bay I'd imagine?

Perhaps a sign of things to come...supercharger on the options list for your new v8 commie...from sv8 all the way up. Read an interesting snipit in an aussie motor mag the other day...holden to open up a division to hot tune your late model commie...retro fit eaton type superchargers by the look of the photo in the mag...sourced from the US...along with other go fast bits To open early 2005...standby to standby.

prob right the monaro one isn't the same az the rest of the VZ range, looks the same as the old ones.

what about the washers ? are they removed from the bonnet like the VY, so need a later wiper panel only?

holdens gunna hate that, they forgot to make a slight change to stop retro fits..

There is a 'Monaro ute' driving around inside the Holden Elizabeth plant. Been around for a while now. No, it's not a future model, it's the work of some bored pilot room boys! Stuck the front bumper, lights etc. on the front of a VU pilot car. they didn't change the bonnet, so the swap must work the other way round, too. I wonder how long it will be now till we see said monaro utes on the road?

I've got a mate whos gettin the vz munro bonnet on his VT. I think he's ordered it already. Apparently the scoops are actually a separate part and fit into the bonnet. He was telling me yesterday that including getting it sprayed will cost around $1600.

They are pressed into the bonnet ie 1 piece.

You are right but there is no such animal a a VZ monaro, same as there isnt a VY monaro ( well there is one but that dont count) , thought he was refering to a VZ bonnet onto a monaro

Was thinking just this the other day... would be interesting to see what it looks like on a VX clubie :D

If the bonnet is properly vented, would probably be good to help cool down the intake manifold more.

My old man has ordered the new bonnet. he's gettin it fitted and sprayed next week. by the way the vents dont have any intake into the engine bay they are blokes like the top of the monaro grille series 1 - 3. i will post pics when it's done the week after next.

also the bonnet vents are a seperate part and part number.

A VT S pak, my old car in fact, with a fair few mods it will be featured in street commodores in an upcoming issue. The photographer came down in july so it should be soon. How do you post pics on this forum.

I havn't made many posts so i might not be able to yet???

The list price is $1087 for the bonnet and $115 for each mesh bezel (scoop inserts) (2).

It will fit straight on, the VZ Munro isn't a different shape it is just a facelift, I am looking at a picture of it in the latest MOTOR mag as I am typing and it should fit straight on.

The vents in the scoop are cosmetic only the mesh has black plastic behind. If it didn't you woul get heaps of crap in the engine bay, water, bugs, dust.

The VZ monaro front end Bonnet, lights, front bar (guards are same as vt/vx) will fit VT/VX and if you change the guards back to VT/VX you can fit it to VY. :D

it's not worthwhile putting it on then if the scoops aren't working like the pontiac gto, it would a nice intake system

How come WRXs can have functional vents then? Wouldn't it fill up with bugs? Even if the intercooler is flush against the bonnet, they do have small holes in the fins through which water could get in, so it can't be that much of an issue.

Also are the lights the same as previous monaroe ie Series 1 V2 V3

Yeah, they're blocked from the factory, however the plastic behind can be cut out to become functional. we've been driving one around for a week. Gets a lot of attention out on the street!

Edit: If anyone gets a part number or a price for the front bar, I'd be interested to know (so that I can take out a loan to buy it, haha). That looks shit hot.

Yes the VX bonnet will work fine with the New front bar.
The New head lights have a slightly slightly sharper point to them so you will not only have to upgrade the front bar, but the headlights aswell.

ok please excuse me, let me get this straight....the bonnet and the scoops are 2 separate parts....so can you fit the scoops to an existing VT bonnet or is the monaro bonnet specially designed to accept the scoops?

Ask him about it.

Yes, he did, so 2 models after is even less likely to fit than one, which i think is what Delco was getting at, especially considering he has put a VY front on a VX Monaro.

The standard Monaro bonnet is around depending on dealer price $500 with GST, some cheaper, big difference for the scooped bonnet

The bonnet has the scoops in it, it is the Inserts for the Scoops that are additional.

I had one of those bonnets on my car years ago!!! Oh .. that was an XB GT coupe? :D

FYI: During the early/mid seventies Pontiac fitted non-functional RamAir systems to many TransAms/Formula400s/etc .. the thing was they were only non-functional because they had a block-off plate fitted, which savvy owners could drillout and make functional. Be nice if the Monaro ones would work like that!

Who said it was a v6?? VY and VU front cuts with LS1's in them are cheap and easy to get.. And also looks good in a wagon especially with a Monaro bonnet on it.
The bonnet serves no purpose to the engine , so it is only cosmetic. I think the Monaro bonnet looks tuff on all late model commodore whether it is a 6 or an 8.

The Bonnet with all the Nostrils and under bonnet bits and pieces should not cost more than $1200 or a little under, Painting around $350 to $450 . Fitting to a VY,,,Not sure ask some on the forum for info why VY's are a small problem to fit the VZ monaro bonnet to.
