This morning, I hop in the car, and go for a drive into Dandenong to visit relatives, anyway on the way back I call into Booran Holden to see if I can get hold of a small part for my VR.
I relay my request to the interpreter, then he dives into Partfinder to find this component, then he stares, I could of done it myself in seconds. Then I say I also need this bit to go with it, he says it's included, for which I know is bulltish, he consults his superior, who agrees with me!!!. I tend to know more than they do!!!!
Should of gone to my regular Holden dealer, FTG Holden, they know me by name and don't stuff me around.
Does anyone have any similar stories about the so called "professional service" offered by Holden spare parts dealers.

I can see your point, but at times there are inaccuracies with the info provided to the spare parts people. Inexperienced parts interpreters suffer the most.
United holden at rockdale and the guys there are great. Sometimes cant find a part but its more or less downto the drawings and the way the program is layed out, imho

I tried to get a set of HSV head light protectors from my local dealer. They had to order them in and would give me a call once they had them. Over a week later and I hadn't heard anything so I called in to find out. They did get them in, but sent them back. As I walked out the door he asked if I still wanted them. Went elsewhere and had then the next day.

True, and the only way they get experience is to learn by these mistakes. A good spare parts person is one who remembers all the little things like this and stores it away in his mind for next time, a bad spare person is somebody that just forgets it or does not care enough to bother trying to remember. Being a parts interpreter is not a highly rewarding job.
