Just thought you’d all be interested in hearing that a member (PC5) on FAF has posted saying that Holden have registered the names GTSR and MALAGARA approximately 6 days ago. Link to Thread (http://www.fordaustraliaforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6192)
I think it would be safe to assume the later is a concept to be released at the SMS and the GTSR possible an AWD GTS?

GTSR
GTSR seems a bit odd
Why would holden regester GTSR ? firstly hsv is not owned by Holden anymore
also they made VS GTSR it was butter yellow had a big wing and you could option it to be blueprinted from HSV my mate had one and Had Harrop do all the blue printing etc went quite nicely also in the UK they sell R8's as GTSR

Cheers

MALAGARA...sounds like a name for a 4WD me thinks.

heres my two cents worth....

GTSR could be some form of AWD HSV performance sedan, to sit along side the Coupe 4, and hopefully with more that 270kw and the LS2

Malagara could be the name for the new small 4WD Holden is bringing here, it has been designed with assistance from Mike Simcoe and will also be sold as a Daewoo and a Chevrolet in other markets (there is another thread on this)

It has been pretty much confirmed on the Street Commodores forum that Holden will be revealing a Torana hatch concept with a Twin Turbo Alloytec engine, at the Australian International Motorshow.

Holden may also have the VZ AWD range at the motorshow including updated Adventra, Cross 8, and maybe even the V6 versions, although from what I've heard these aren't ready for production just yet. And there is the possibility that Hoilden will introduce an AWD one-tonner to it awd range.

HSV will also be revealing their Z series, and hopefully an update to LS2 for the Coupe 4, and we might see the GTSR as part of the initial Z Series range.

Ok, so they are some of my thoughts, my guess is that we will see some of them at the motorshow, and the rest in the next 6 months or so.

here is a link to the HSV GTS-R 215i: http://pascale.customer.netspace.net.au/vs/gtsr-info.htm

i remember reading in wheels or something a while ago about an All wheel Drive one Tonner being tested in Sweden. Could this be the malagara?

and the GTS-R could be a supercharged GTS with around 350-400KW :p

GTSR could be like the Monaro CV8-R ie a marketing exercise nothing more.
I hope I am proved wrong though and it is a AWD GTS coupe with ls2!

Well Maloo is aboriginal for thunder so if malagara is lightning then maybe it is a HSV, possibly a ute. Maybe a HSV tonner.

Seeing the Jackaroo isn't being produced by Isuzu anymore for Holden it may be a replacement for that hole in the Holden arsenal ??

Benowa F51A2 Malagara Hovercraft, Self-Propelled Gun-Mortar

The Malagara [Qld Ab: lightning] is a variant of the Nantawarra specialising in fire support. The assault trooper compartment of the Nantawarra is replaced with a remotely operated turret for a 12-cm gauss mortar and its magazine. Unlike other fire support vehicles the F51 has a high power remote laser weapon for self-defence as it operates closer to the line of battle. F51s are found in the mortar platoons of armoured squadrons.

well they've got the GTO LE for that job... and the Clubsport Special Edition... being a car that sells only 100 units annually, i don't think a GTS is in need of a 'special edition', unless, that is, it has LS2 when nothing else in the range does :D

My thoughts are that the GTSR will be a limited run racing spec GTS Coupe sold to people who wants to use the car for track use only. There were rumours similar to this some time back using track-spec standard monaros

Could be Kris. There was talk of a Monaro one-make series a bit like the Carrera Cup, so maybe this is the pre-cursor.
