View Full Version : 10.7@130mph from a stock engine....
I thought a few people might be intrested in knowing that on Friday night out at Calder we took out one of our customers VY Twin turbo LS1 ute with a stock unopened engine and managed to real of two 10.7 @ 130mph runs.. with the fastest mph of 133mph..
This is our stage 1 kit and the only mods to the engine is valve springs (which come as part of our kit) otherwise the engine is "stock as a rock". What is just as impressive is the rest of the car is stock, including suspension, diff and Gearbox(M6)..it does however have a upgraded clutch and a Ripshift..
And before people start speculating about weight reduction.. the items removed from the car where, tailgate, petrol tank cover, exhaust and passengers seat. and whe did run draglite wheels, front runners & slicks...
The other thing we did was run better fuel which allowed us to increase the boost to 12psi..and keep the engine safe....
Why did we do all the above? To have fun and gauge the potential of our stage 1 TT kit on a standard, customers..car...
We are pretty satisfied for a first time out but as always we want more and so does the customer, so we will be back next week to try and go a little faster.....maybe a 9 isn't that far away...
In the spirit of this forum I thought we should make a claim to being the fastest something in Australia..
How about..
Fastest VY Ute?
Fastest green Ute Australia..:)
Fastest bolt on car in Australia...or is changing the valve springs considered to be opening the engine...?
It certainly would be the fastest LS1 with a standard camshaft...
Just need something to hang our hat on...
A big thanks to Paul the owner for being as committed as we are to going fast and having fun...
Cheers

Great stuff Rob!! Congratulations to you and the boys at the HorsePower Factory!
Amazing that the car is running a standard m6 box! Just out of curiousity how many kays has the car done in TT form?
Good to hear from you guys, been a little quiet lately - now we know why, you've been under the bonnet of the Green Machine!!!!
Going to be very interesting to see the battle of the LS1 turbo's over the next few months!

Who steered the rocket? :headbang:
Im not sure how many klms are on it now but the customer has been diving it for a couple of months now... we have also just deliverd a brand new CVR with the HPF TT Stage 1 Kit, harrop brakes & suspension package to a customer in Qld, while we are putting the finishing touches to a silver VXSS which also got the full treatment of TT, brake upgrade, clutch and twin 3" exhaust... So we have been busy! I guess we just don't have time to tell everyone about it....as I would rather be building them than talking about them...
I got the job of steering it down the track and I am still smileing... :D
cheers
Rob..

Well done Rob, I thought something was fishy when i saw it reel off a 11.11!!
Nice to see the word 'fun' being use in description of your goals, I think we all need to follow your lead and get back to having fun and give the ego racing a rest.
Cheers,
Matt.

As far as records go, green ones wont count now you have done it in a green one. Silver wont count as soon as you finish the silver one.
Well done. Great result.

Congrats , things are definately starting to hot up in the of late , any graphs , timeslips and pics of the setup .
You are totally right Matt , fun is the main factor in all this , life is too short and full of disapointments to not try and have fun every second you can

well done :D
Thanks for your kind words...
It is all about fun for me...hey I chucked in a perfectly good, well paid job, sold my business & changed my life to get back into the automotive industry..some people thought I had lost my marbles...which is probably true... but hey life is too short and I am passionate about this industry and building it up...
I hear what industry people say about each other behind ther backs (never to there face) and I shake my head and sigh...I'm of the belief its usually the ones that do the most talking that know the least and therefor have to make up for there insecurities by speaking shit..
Hey ..on Friday night before my second run Paul (who's car it is) came up to me and said are you nervous? I looked at him and said not really..he said I fxxcking am! He was so anxious and excited to see what the car would do...hey he had his whole family there to take part..and when the 10 second pass came he was hooked.. already talking about him driving the car and how we could go faster..thats all it took 10 seconds.... to me thats what it is all about and delivering it is a joy for me...not a job..
Anyway now I will step down off my soap box and get back to working on going faster in this ute...
I will post some pics of the setup and a dyno sheets when I get some time on Monday...
cheers

Top figures Rob, must be a sweet ride, 10's from something that a 90y/o could drive.
Even the police would struggle to pick anything out of the ordinary in the engine bay.
You better get that Green Ute of yours to the strip........

Congrats to the owner on the time, but I'd be more interested in the time he runs with the weight reduction reversed.
For example, Drive it to the drags and then drive it home again with a passenger.

Top Effort
After reading this post I could not stop laughing.
Lots of light humour about being the fastest bolt on car.
Then my laughter stopped as i then thought you may have collected the Ripshift " Lets go auto hunting reward "
Close but N/A only let you down.
Must say it was the first time I have seen the HPF Twin
Turbo kit in the flesh and i was very impressed. This was before it ran the 10 second pass.
Good to see you used a customers car to highlight what the package could down the strip.
Had a great night catching up with members of different shops and being able to all get together after the drags for a chat.
Cheers Phonsy

I'm wondering if u guys used the stock computer and if not what kinda of tuning is required. I'm very interested in this kit but I just don't wanna go through all the pain of matching parts together and wondering whats wrong after the installation if i doesn't work properly. Also where do I go to find pricelist and complete discription of the kit.
Thanx

What RPM and tyre height was used to get 133mph in 4th with the 3.46 gears?
The 135mph was with a 26" tyre at around 6200rpm..

Is the ute for sale the same one from the Timeslip database?? I noticed the times are different to the first post to wondered if it was the same Ute as mentioned in this thread or maybe it was run again for a different (better) time.
