Worried your images are being stolen, used without concent or linked to and stealing your bandwidth.

I found this program which can help. It uses Macromedia Flash and rightclicking no longer works. Viewing the page source doesnt show the links to actual files and it makes it a LOT harder to steal images and bandwidth

Best of all.... Its FREE!!

It's a good idea for those worried about people stealing images, but from what I've seen in a recent thread (one with the Gold Coast Holden Parade pics) where the site used that program, it makes viewing the images nearly impossible for any dialup users .... soooo slow :(

Thanks VooDoo, I actually posted the other week regarding stealing photo's off my site and I got the no right click working...

I like this one a lot better, already got a test page up on my site and it works well. At http://www.maloneshome.com under test page..

Thanks again, now for heaps of work to change all my picies over

EDIT..

Oh bugger, the misses just pointed out you can print directly off the screen :bash: print then scan and you have the picy, or print direct to Acrobat and you have the file :bawl:

agreed little point trying to outwit those who have a real interest in stealing your public web images, there are too many basic ways around it. quite often half arsed protection methods merely goad people into breaking them.

So much for my 8mb/sec cable!?!

I can still get your images of my MAC.

Things i have learnt.

1. If you have an image set as a backgound image, you cannot simply drag it off on to your desktop, nor right click and save as. Just like you cannot select the "blue" colour of the forum backgound.

2. As we use Flash, it is good as you cannot simply drag and copy images, but as people above said, screen print and presto

3. On our websites, we "slice" our images say into 6 or or pieces. In mostly rectangle shapes, ala jigsaw puzzle. Actaully the program Fireworks (macromedia) does this for us, and we can put the image back together for viewing. However when you go to drag or copy the image off the net, it will only copy a slice at a time, and if you dont have much web knowlege or simply cant be assed putting it back together, it is a great detterent.

Still not fool proof.

As everyone has said, if its on the net, its there for the taking.

I have never shown anything that I want to keep secret. If someone likes it enough to load into their computer to enjoy, that must be good Karma.

I think its only an issue if its used to make money. I haven't worked out if that can be done yet and I've only ever thought of things that have already been thought about by someone else.

Whats the best way to watermark a photo ????

Most photo editors to my knowledge have a watermark feature, on another site that I admin we just have the sites url across all pic's in our gallery, not a problem for mbr's cuase we will just rip a CD of what they want, heres a look at one from a recent cruise...
