This was fun.... Well the first half was.... ;)

Driving the CAPA Crewman up the mountain was a real blast. I think Angus (the camera guy) and Robbie expressed their concern for the excessive amounts of grunt out of this 2.2 tonne car with a few “F” words, so if this word offends anyone, don’t click the link.

The camerawork isn’t the best because it was an attempt by Angus to use both my camera along with his professional unit. So excuse the incorrect angles at this stage. The real footage will come through later next week.

It's well worth a look and a listen to the comments as the car hits close to 300k's with ease down the main straight with a big smoken drift through the chase! :D 10meg!

Honestly Brian..... These VORTECH SUPERCHARGER kits from CAPA are cheap fun.... This engine is only basic... very basic.... very neat, the kit is easy to install and the rest is in the video... :)

I'm not pushing a barrow here as I love N/A stuff with a passion... But a fact is a fact! :)

Thats as close as I will get to seeing any of Bathurst this year because some French fool decided to stop showing the highlights of the v8's on tv over here :cussing: So thankyou for putting it up. Anymore would be greatly appreciated. This will be the first Bathurst since i can remember, that I won't get to watch.

I will go burn a few French flags now and sulk that I can't watch the race.

I was sitting out the front of the VB tent at the chase, saw the crewman come tearing over the hill on conrod and told my missus to watch this ute. Just as I said it, one of the channel 10 producers was in earshot and asked why ? Just as he went into his drift :eek:

She was on the 2-way so fast asking who caught the footage !

I should have known there was a fancy pants plumber in the co-pilots seat :D

For an all action, no traction fun car you wont beat this combo. Its got the lumpy idle of a big cam, a genuine mental V8 soundtrack (which you cant get with a turbo car), and kickass delivery from 2000rpm upwards - watch the video - and is bloody reliable. Everything I was saying a properly setup Vortech car should be, about a year ago. Some of the quarter mile trailer queens would be lucky to last one lap of this punishment from Bolger, yet this little combo just keeps loving it. Maybe that might answer some of your questions Keen?

Hi Ken, that was a great drift alright! One of the best I'd ever seen, I was driving the other pink ute behind Robbie at the time.. The smoke was just pouring off the tyres... I hope someone caught it on tape... :)

just got back from bathurst - I can say that the CAPA vehicle was sweet - as far as road legal the exhaust sounded fine - I have heard a lot of louder cars around

We took the rear resonator off just before taking it to the track. Yep, it’s loud like this. :)

Ive actually been in that ute briefly with mr B , I was amazed something with that much power could have such good street maners.I had crossed centrifical blower off my list of possible F/I for my GTS but have recosidered my possition after a little drive.I didnt see the ute in action but did see the evidence of where it had been today. :lol:

I did the same to the people with me as soon as I saw the utes and crewman line up down at the start of pit straight. Crazy but awesome display! You would expect nothing less from Robbie.

More Bathurst footage 20mb. The guy that went with Robbie in the Jet van was sreaming slowdown as the van was getting squirmy at about 250 down conrod.

I tell you what Bathurst would be a pretty intimidating place to have to show your stuff. No practice, no risk taking, just thousands of people all judging your ability, while the primary objective is to keep the thing out of the sand traps and off the walls! I wouldnt wanted to have been in his shoes! Well...maybe.

Let you in on a little secret though, Pete and I are going to be doing a bit of drift competition stuff with our cars in the very near future. Cant wait.

Pete,

You guys were the talk of the mountain. There was a bunch of blokes wanting to get the shuttle bus, but their mates forced them to hang around for the utes and the crewman. One of them had obviously seen you the day before - "Nah, wait around a minute, Wait till you see this crewman, I don't know what's in it but it's the filthiest thing on wheels" :lol:

When you skidded past, everyone was talkiing. It's an awesome beast alright.

Robbie’s ute is a simple head and cam package with a tune and Matt’s Ute is dead stock.

They raced each othe up the mountain at one point... I'll post that video in another thread later.

Next year they are getting CAPA Superchargers fitted BTW. :)

Ya, next year that pair of utes will be a different colour and sport a whole lot more grunt. As I explained to Bolger the concept is to light em up in fourth gear...obviously he started foaming at the mouth in anticipation

I run 11:1 Brian... I've seen some great results on higher compression 383's with camshafts larger than yours... Don't take my word for it... Call me and I'll put you onto a few guys who have the numbers and the daily drivability manners that would help you to stop wondering about it. Like I said earlier, these things work in unison to what you have already done to your engine. :)

They are sponsored by Dunlop! They are allocated something like 16 tyres for an event like this. Fitted and all, these tyres aren’t cheap ones either! Around $350 retail each :)
