A big thankyou to Sam for helping me out with my engine build, from the word go he helped me out alot, he supplied me with pistons, rod's and machining of the block, i called him a countless amount of times while i was building my engine, he was and is always willing to help.

My camshaft (the brains of the engine ;) ) was also a Sam custom grind.

I took the ss to wsid today in absolute street trim, all the seats, the factory airbox the filter absolutley everything was retained, my best run of the night was 12.75 @115mph 2.433 60ft  oh and the track temp was a stunning 36 degrees relative humidity was 7.

The car was ice skating down the track 1st 2nd and 3rd, pathetic i say! but hey im very happy with the mph especially in that sort of scorching heat.

Once again Thankyou Sam.

Its your basic 346 cuber with forged rod's and pistons cam and heads, stroker was on the cards but the money wasn't.

I hope that you changed those Patriot springs and made sure that all the valve seats are o.k.

I would hate for that help that sam provided go to waste.

Well they are one of very few heads that have awsome flow figures where it's important between .100-.400 lift, i was not worried about the 304cfm @.600 ;) Sam was going to port some heads for me but when i told him about the patriot's for a little over 2k outright he said "grab em".

BTW, Pete, Joe im a man of principles, im sure you both know that, especially Joe, i never would of bought these heads if it wern't for the principle.

Girch.

nks,,,,, for your kind words Peter. :)Th

Yes poor me, I have had massive problems ( Like broken valve, smashed piston and cracked block )from a set of Patriot heads. All I was trying to do was give you some advice from someone that had problems. But if you dont wont feed back then so be it. Check the LS1tech Forum in the U.S theirs Hundreds of very pissed off customers.
But when you do and you will i will be laughing very hard and saying "TOLD YOU SO".

If you check a thread over at LS1TECH.com (http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=216267&page=2&pp=10&highlight=Patriot) there is concern about the quality control of the heads by one of the sponsors when the completed heads leave PP. But there has been no breakages of the LS1 Dual Gold Valve springs reported.

The main Problem with the Gold PP Springs is that they loose a substancial amount of pressure. The other main concern which has taken out quite a number of engines has been the valve seat dropping out. :bash:

I was a fan of PP, until it took my engine out. But hey you can only try to warn people so they dont go and slice their wrists when it happens.

Early problem with Patriot heads surrounded the valve seats. Super-Mega-fugly blowouts from some using these in the states. I believe the quality has improved but I wouldn't be rushing out to buy a set.

AFR are doing heads that get a good rap if people are hell bent on buying US sourced heads but to be honest we have the best right here in 'Oz'

Nathan Higgins and Rams Heads both do fantastic work. Great flow, great combustion chamber work and good air speed through the runners.

Also , I was able to get a set of hand matched double springs from Higgins that have been fantastic. I had Crane springs prior and they softened up pretty quick. I blamed the ramp rate on the cam along with the the 1.8:1 ratio rockers for the 'soft on' my Crane springs had. Pressures at the seat and over the nose with the doubles have suited the kind of cams I've been using to date...no float ,no dramas.
