The first episode of Top Gear's new season aired last night, and they had a segment where they compared the Vauxhall Monaro VXR (aka Holden Special Vehicles Coupe GTO) with the Chrysler 300C and Jaguar S-Type R.

I was able to download it fine. I'd host it but you'll only be able to download at 25KBps :( I like the aussie background music they had, very outback style. Why would you test them no a sandy beach though instead of on a strip or track? They aren't a WRX after all.

can you guys beleive they drove them in sea water on the freakign beach!!!! granted it did make for some fantastic footage....lets hope they hosed em down with fresh water afterwards!!! was some good watching, always entertaining, those top gear folks :) thanks for the post!

Typical top gear, lots of great footage, pretty light on content tho..

Looks like the Vauxhall "Monaro" will do pretty well, its also good that Holden (and australia) is getting all the credit for it (How much they are getting for the GTO is another matter).

I wish they would see that crap interior, and big engines are really just flaws in that particular model (Holden Monaro).. You would hope that Ford will ship a F6 typhoon over there loaded to the eyeballs to show that not all cars have interiors based on mid 90's concepts and snot green. Or that we need 5.7L engines to make any power.

Great shots for the monaro. Although it lost the drag race, they did sort of point out that it had the power and torque to win it. But the big lazy power oversteer, huge football sized donuts will all read like Holden advertising material. Vauxhall must be rapped with the reception. Clarkson is claiming its the equivent of a 90's Aston!

Concidering how much Clarkson like the Monaro, I'm a bit suprised he hasn't taken Top gear crew to OZ to do a more indepth feature, Fords/Holdens old and new, Cobra replicas, local seven replicas, V8 supercars etc.

fantastic stuff. Where are these encodes coming from? Bittorrent somewhere. It'd be great if we could get the full episodes from previous seasons in such high quality.

I did upload all of last season + some of the season before (5.5gig total) to voodoo's server. But I guess they were deleted for more space :/

As a new DVD player is already on my list, if I got a DIVX capable player, could I then just drop that .avi onto a CD-R and stick it in and play it?

Brendan, they should. I have a friend who has purchased one of the new DiVX capable Pioneers and he says they play fine. You could also invest in an x-box and play them through that.

If not, just burn the avi onto a CD-R and take it into the store to test before you buy.

This is great quality alright, I actually enjoyed watching a movie on the PC for once. :D
If you can get anymore with such high quality please host them up :D
BTW. I downloaded it in no time with my 1500/256k ADSL connection It was downloading at 160 - 175KB/sec, I got the whole movie in about 50mins.

Pitty they failed to admit that the reason why their puny 4.2 was as powerful as our massive 5.7s was due to a supercharger which makes sense, but doesnt necessarily make it any better - but otherwise awesome review and fun to watch - whoever did the titles put Chevrolet instead of Chrysler. I really thought the Jag was gonna win cos it was Bri-ish
