NO SPEED LIMIT Twilight Drive Nights
Motorists wanting to drive fast without getting fined or locked up for speeding, now have a safe location to test their cars performance. Management at Sydney’s Eastern Creek Raceway are making the race circuit available to licensed drivers in road-registered cars. No speed limits exist. Drivers can lap the track as fast as they wish.
NO SPEED LIMIT TWILIGHT DRIVE NIGHTS are being conducted at Eastern Creek Raceway from 5pm till 8pm on the Friday evenings of November 19, December 10, 2004 and in the New Year, on January 21, 2005.
Responsible enthusiasts now have the opportunity to enjoy the power of their cars in a safe controlled environment. Drivers must hold a full drivers licence (no P plates) and be over 18 years of age, cars must be registered and road worthy. A limit of thirty cars are on track in each 20-minute session. Drivers get a minimum of 3 x 20 minute sessions.
Overtaking is only permitted on the main straight.
At sign on, drivers are issued with a set of rules and regulations.

yes cheap eh should be cooler at night too. although that'll be DS then so sun will still be low and about....
no P platers they should have a session for them, they are the ones that need to get it out of their system the most....must be to dangerous even for the racetrack. they really need it the most, Gov't should insist they be given cheap track time, better than the roads....

don't forget depending on how hard you go may cost you a new set of tyres as well. and thats if you stay on the track....
what sizes do used race slicks come in ? ;)
3 sessions won't shag your tyres. Used semi-comps can be worse than your good street tyres if they are really off.
Will probably see me there on Nov 19th! $55 with a CAMs license is a cheap practise session!

Want to try out my new DBA slotted discs and see if they can take the punishment.
Good Post dude :stick:

Ha! I resemble that comment :D
I'm going to send my booking form off today. Apparantly there a lot of places at the moment, but I wouldn't dill-dally too much as these things do tend to get booked out.
Also perhaps we should get together in a few groups of 2/3 cars and rent garages when there as well - they are usually $25 per garage and you can fit 2/3 cars in one garage, so it's pretty cheap and then you have somewhere to leave all your stuff plus hang out between sessions, watch the other cars and tell lies etc. So if anyone wants to share a garage PM me.
Cheers,
Beej

is there any point doing track days like this with an auto? i'd like to try but I'm still saving up for the turbo M6 lol.

SV8VY drives an auto, and he seems to have fun on the track!
Really there is no reason why you can't have a run around the circuit in an auto at all - you will still learn a lot about your car and your driving. High RPM stall converters can make things a bit dicey though - but you are running a stock stally then I would say go for it - you will have fun! just take the time to learn what the auto does on the exit of each corner, and be ready to deal with a sudden unexpected kick-down at WOT just off the apex :D

Mate for sure. If you like driving fast, it doesn't matter what you bring - it's worthwhile.
I did a Wakefield day in my auto V6 (VS) and loved it. I wasn't even the slowest one there. :D
I'll be there with my auto LS1 (10th Dec)...but I'd make sure you get a trans cooler beforehand (small price to pay for the peace of mind).
Cheers,
- Febs.

- Febs.Go for it I say.Mines an auto and although not the best track car still fun.
WARNING:don't put it in 3rd in turn 1 just out of the straight doing 160   -going side ways at that speed is no fun at all!
I tried different things and found it was best to have it on power mode in 3rd most of the way and remember to shift it to 4th on the straight and not rev the shite out of it wondering why your car is so slow :stupid:
I found that the button in normal mode was good also but a little slow if you are trying hard.
Next time Ill try and leave the traction on as I was drifting around the hair pin most of the time and lost it totally doing a 360 once
Beej is right though and you will quickly learn when the car kicks down and timing is everything especially if you have 3.9.1 in the diff.
Cant wait to go back out.
Pick I was sent from my recent effort...look like I almost know what Im doing  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v407/aussiefones/071004JPM_125.jpg sorry about the advertising but he left the watermarks on

Very Very tempting. Will have to wait and see if i manage to pick up a 4 cylinder shit box to get to and from work. If so ill be there!!!
Overtaking is only permitted on the main straight.
Hmmm, the more i think about this. I dont know if i like that rule.
If everyone has to wait for the Main Straight to overtake, there is going to be a big long line of cars wanting to overtake and all get on the power quickly. My only hope is that they at least organise it so you dont get 3 V8's up against a 4 cylinder as its just going to be to messy. Down the straights the V8's will kill the 4 cylinder or the 6, but through the twisties it could be the opposite.
I hope they have considered this!!!

Looks like a trip down from Newie for me. $75 is awesome value. Good excuse to check out the slotted rotors.
Ridden around EC on a M/Bike but never in a car, should be a great evening !
Anyone interested in heading out afterwards for a bit of a feed & hang out etc ?
Just a thought !

What day are you thinking of doing this Tiger SS?? After a chat with Beej yesterday, im very very tempted to do this.
I am locked and loaded.See you there.

Wakefield has a similar rule, and it seems to work pretty well (although Wakefield's a pretty short track, so at most you're stuck for 1:30 or so).
Really though - it's for safety. There's people out there who have probably never seen a racetrack in their life. You don't really want them performing dangerous overtaking moves near your pride and joy...

Damn you for twisting my arm yesterday Beej!!!! i just faxed the form off to book in for the november session!!!
DAMN YOU BEEJ!!!

Cheers,
Beej
Anyone booked in for the Dec 10 session?
I'd do the Nov 19th one if I could, but I won't have time to get my car ready.

Probably the 19th Ryzz. Trying to get a half day at work, so that I can make it down for the 5pm start.

Hi Guys,
I was due for the Decoember 10 meet but it's the night of our Xmas party (yeah, yeah, priorities! But if you've ever been to a TV industry Xmas party, you know not to miss them!) So I think I'll head out on the January one!
