I thought I'd start this one because I know a lot of people like to put other wheels into their car.

Personally I like the standard wheel in my VT clubby. I had a sports wheel in my VN (no airbag obviously) which I loved but got used to the VT.

I've driven a VY and do not like the design of the wheel at all. Plus your thumbs get a little sore. That is being changed through minor shape changes which I have seen in the later models.
However that still leaves the design of the wheel itself as looking tacky. A big semi-circle stuck on the front of a steering column.

Maybe you could get an idea off of the sports wheels for shape?

I agree with you Bazz.

The wheel on my VX I quite like.. but cannot stand the cheap looking VY/VZ steering wheel. The shape of the steering wheel's boss looks wrong in a car like Commodore - although it might not be out of place in a Daewoo.

Also, can we move away from this fake brushed aluminium look as it tends to cheapen the interior?

I agree
the VT/VX wheel is quite good..specially with a leather wrapper
The current wheel with its fake silver highlights looks..fake
imho, the all black wheel on V/VZ looks better
but
the worst belongs to the large car range (Caprice etc)
the fake woodgrain (plastic) on the wheel is downright dangerous
why?
it is unbelievably slippery
nearly stuffed the nose of a new Caprice into the armco at Sandown
on the last Holden drive day coz the wheel slipped in the hands
not nice...

cheers
