Car Manufactures & secret warranty work

Just wonder in general - Which car manufactures support secret warranties where there isn't a recall issued but there is a recommendation to check or perform work next time a vehicle is booked in for a regular service.

You would not be told or invoiced for the work performed - So how would you know if the dealer is acually performing it or is this service work listed by some as as a no charge item?

As a consumer you don't get all the TSB and your rely on your dealership mechanic to apply all these as required such as Software for the power train.
Software version Y might have better 3-4 gearbox shift than version X.
At least the applicable TSB should be made available for owners to be informed about - or is this too dangerous and result in time wasting for dealers trying to explain it fully. ??

I'd suggest DOTARS would be right onto them and the ACCC probably not far behind together with every State and Territory consumer affairs branch!

land rover do as well , when we booked a car , in the system automatically checked the cars vin no against the warrenty data base (the system knew if the work had been claimed on ) , if any "service actions " or updates were outstanding such as updated tunes or recalls it printed out a list of what was outstanding and it was attached to the job sheet and was to be completed or parts to be ordered for when it was in next time , as far as i know the customers were always told the work was done and none of them seemed to care as long as it was free of charge , this was also the case at the toyota dealership i worked at also

I think recalls relate only to safety issues which need rectification asap, while TSB's are done whenever the car is next in for a service or repair. Ford TSB's are printed on the service documents and with many owners on the net now some get to know what's required before the dealers.
