Hi all,

I am after opinions on a Red Back cat back exhaust system. I am looking at getting the twin 2 1/2 inch system. It is twin all the way it does not go into the single 3 inch at the diff.

I am not looking for performance but just for a little bit of noise. I have kids so I dont want it too loud. I just want it so that there is no mistaken its a V8. At the moment my SV8 sounds like a 6.

What is the major difference between the Redback cat back system and say one from SUREFLO.

thanks

That is exactly the same system as mine on my WH and i couldn't be happier i have two kids as well and that's one thing i was carefull about as well (noise and drone that is) It is quiet enough at idle but when you let it go you hear it at 100kl/h its perfect not a hint of drone im very happy with mine and for the price you cant go wrong......
there is a good amout of power increase to which is only a good thing.

I have a redback, and I like it.
As far as off the shelf systems go, they seem to be one people like more than others.

That said, a custom Sureflo system can be made to YOUR requirements, and they aren't happy unless you are.

This is the same system I have on the SV8....as it helped push the car to 12.231 down the quarter unopened I very much doubt there is any trade off power wise with the purchase of an off the shelf Redback twin system as against many of the expensive systems on offer.. imho.......sound levels with the resonator left intact are pretty docile at low revs but given a boot-full :burnout: there is little doubt left to the imagination as to what’s lurking under the bonnet :).. …..pm me if you want a sound file

Great performance (mines not quite like mark's  ), but i would suggest you get some try-y headers... That will make it sound like a real V8, very quite in the car to, i was most suprised, full WOT sounds great.... If you want that supercar sound, just chop the rear mufflers and then you have a monster V8 sound

Had a dual redback on the torana at one stage - it was OK ... had a single 3" on the VT with the 5L in it and it was a nicer sound ... still have the same exhaust on the VT with the LS1 installed and it still sounds good ... Redback are pretty good ... as for Sureflo, the big difference is that they use thicker steel on their mufflers and the thicker the steel the slightly deeper the note - and has been pointed out if you're not happy they are not happy ...

cheers

thanksAs markone2 states there is nothing wrong with the Redback. The difference between it and a Sureflow one, apart from better quality, is that you get what you want from Greg, EXACTLY what you want. You have kids and don't want so much noise, but a deeper note? Greg can supply what you ask for, and as stated above, he is not happy until you are. That is the difference between off the shelf and custom.
