I have a new SV8 and was after some info regarding looking after the Auto Transmission in them.
What are the do's and dont's for the transmission. Its only stock and I have heard lots of bad feedback regarding these particular tranny's.
Thanks

Dont manually shift them up and down gears all the time would be the main thing. And if you plan on putting some power through it..... A trans cooler.

Put a tranmission cooler on it and, regardless of what Holden recommend, get the fluid changed & filters etc replaced (ie a proper transmission service) every 20 or 30,000 k's
I'm about to click over 10,000k's and getting a service as a one off - primarily because I want to change fluid over to Castrol Tranzmax Z (its a synthetic and pricey as hell ), plus I figure the transmission is now "run in" and I want get rid of any sh#t that might be circulating around in the fluid - it doesn't take much for the filters to be blocked.
Try to avoid manually changing gear - especially changing down and compression locking. Get a shift kit or edit done if you want some nice crisp change patterns.

Looked After Mine In The Vy Ss Ute Never Manually Shifting Or Abusing It And It Still Blew Up At 30,000kms. Reconditioned One Which Was Fitted Under Warranty Felt Better Then The Other One Ever Was Even When It Was New.
