I still can't see folks spending $70k plus of their hard earned on a car with the same drivetrain as a $30k Commodore. I'd reckon they'd have a hard fight on their hands if they decide to go ahead with it.

I honestly don't think it will sell that well over here... I might be wrong tho!

If it comes to pass, then they may be some people with an affinity to the Cadillac name, but from my viewpoint, it would have to very good to compare $4$ with a Statesman/Caprice!
And, I stand corrected, aren't the majority of Cadillac FWD?

I'm sure Holden wouldn't want to hurt Stato sales and I think the price difference to the Caddie will prevent that. But, could Holden be trying to appeal to the (fairly low-volume) Caprice market? Those who want something luxurious and a bit different to a Commy may give the Caddie a try?

I dunno.
I'd rather buy a full spec VE Calais than a Caddy. But if the Caddy turns out to be better quality (workmanship, features etc) then Holden is boned.

Well people seem to buy Lexus cars and we all know they are just Camrys and Landcruisers underneath. It will be interesting to see how they market the cars and what extras they will have.

I would think that Cadillac would be aimed at the higher end market like BMW, Merc, Audi, Jaguar and Lexus as opposed to the locally manufactured Commodore and its LWB variants. Having said that it could take away sales, but these sales may well have gone to one of the other brands and probably are at this point in time because Holden do not have anything to offer at $80K+ to its luxury buyers.
