These past few months I have been tweaking the tune in the black beast using HPTuners. Finally satisfied with the end result, I took it to EFI Dynamics in Lilydale for an AFR check. Did 3 power runs and all were consistent to within 1rwkw.
Here's the result

Needless to say I was stoked. The car drives like a raped ape. I even get a little wheelpsin from an 80kph rolling start with the 4-2 kick-down.
I have'nt seen many stockers making 250+rwkw. I only recall Simons F1 sedan at the Frankston Dyno Day pulling 250+rwkw in shoot-out mode. Having tuned it myself makes it very rewarding.
I'll be at the Heathcote Holden-Ford meet this Saturday from 4:00PM to give it a squirt. Track times will confirm whether or not its a happy Dyno.
Its time for the 12s time monkey to take a hike.

By the graph the power looks like its climbing all the way and before it drops off 20kph earlier.

Good on you MNR-0, it just goes to show if you are prepared to put in the effort you will get the return, that 13.0 should fall lower now :burnout:Are you still running the 2.25" exhaust?

Awesome effot Grant!
Soon, you'll be taking cash off people to work a little magic on their beasts!
Good luck on the 12's too.

Grant, a top job well earned for all your paitence and tinkering, learning what does what and how to improve it.
I was just thinking the same:
Soon, you'll be taking cash off people to work a little magic on their beasts!

Cheers all.
I suspect somthing sinister had happened, and I am determined to find out. It may be that my cats have gutted themselves by overheating on lean cruise. I have CAT protection disabled. I shall find out tomorrow.
To answer Mongy's question, yes, it's still a 2.25" system.
Im thinking that even with the cats gutted its hard to imagine a 20rwkw difference - that and on a 30+ degree day that for all purposes was the crappiest day for dynoing. If it is the CATS, then the stockers are'nt worth crap for performance as they would then be proven to be a real restriction.
Im confirming the dyno with another run tomorrow at CSV. Pete's dyno reads 15-20rwkw less than Errrol's so if I pull 230+rwkw I'll know its consistent and not a one day wonder.
If so, then I shall try and enter MNR-0 in the dyno comp. at the Holden Ford show. No sense in wasting an opportunity when things are going gangbusters.
I just hope it does'nt land me egg on my face. I'll look like a real :booty:

Good luck either way.

Hey, congrats on the results .
For the non-valideted readers ... What mods do you have, if any (I know the exhaust is still 2.25 inch from a previous post)?
I currently have 3.9 diff and edit in mine and 207 rwkw ... looking into getting a laptop and hpcoders software ... actually cant wait.

Yep. Going tomorrow night to crack a 12. See you there Statie and Simon? Be good to see more familiar faces. Hope it doesnt rain.
Dyno's mean shit. Really. They just confirmed what I was feeling on the road. The 2 runs I had at CSV showed consistent 226rwkw with a bit of ping at the top end. There was less ping at Errols dyno so I think Pete loads the Dyno a bit more than Errol. Still, thats a whopping 15rwkw from the last CSV run, so I am convinced its not the CATS but rather the sweet spot has been struck. Ive been told not CATS wil nett around 5rwkw more, so no dramas there.
I do get ping on the Dyno. But not on the road. Since a Dyno loads a car more than any road will Im happy for the balance. I dont hear any ping nor see any timing pulled when I nail it in 1st.
See you all tomorrow - either at the Holden-Fraud show or at the track. Ill post my results here for conclusion to this thread.

Mods are listed in the timeslips database. But for a complete detailed listing, look no further:
CSV shorty 4-1 headers
Stock VYII cats shoved up under the engine bay
Stock converter
Stock MAF
VYII HSV MAF pipe
CSV ported stock throttle body (opens up to 100% - no machining of the lip)
2.25" dual exhaust with balance pipe
HPTuners "Yours Truly" Tune (baseline taken from CSV and EFI Dynamics)
BMC air filter
Dual hole CAI mod
Tranny cooler (not that I need it - yet)
25% underdriven crank pulley
3.46 diff gears
RVO rebuilt A4 tranny (nothing wrong with it to begin with, just precautionary)
Crow dual valve springs
Basically, a stocker with bolt-ons.
I plan to add in the new year...
Small custom cam (designed by "Yours Truly")
2800 high stall converter (I dont believe I will need higher to pull 11s)
I'll settle at 11s.
