Has anyone done this mod
i have a vuss and would like the auto headlight option ( as in the wh or even calais?) - it is std on all vy ss etc.
I presume it would require a wh light switch and the remote/solar sensor - is there any wiring or bcm changes required?
Thanks
VX Calais definitely had auto headlights. I think the Berlina might have as well (not 100% sure).
I'm not sure what parts you'd need, but you'd definitely need a new switch. This one's for a VY, but I've been told it fits OK (just not perfectly):

wouldn't you need a sensor for it to turn the light on?

I've got a VXII Clubsport (Berlina) and I don't have the auto-headlights. I believe it's the Calais / Senator that got the auto-headlights in VXII

I don't know exactly whats required other than the obvious switch change, anyhow I'm sure Holden could do it fairly cheaply. I wouldn't imagine it being too complicated.

Where is the sensor actualy located?
middle of the dash, near the windscreen, look for the rectangular piece.

My VXII Berlina Wagon has it, and yes the sensor is the black panel in the middle of the windscreen demister vent. I would imagine you would require a LUX BCM to make all work.

If this is so I couldn't fit it to my VTII RB :( . Does any one know if this is right.

I'm not a tech head but I doubt weather you would need the higher end BCM to make it work as the Berlina had 'em, they don't have a high end BCM (They have the middle ones) and the new SS's have them. Unless they are no longer using low level BCM's either.
Interesting question, will keep an eye on this one. Theoretically it shouldn't be a hard job - then again, theoretically, putting climate control into the low level BCM cars wasn't either

iam pretty sure there were two BCm's being hight and low and the berlina has a High CM like the calais I think

i had a look in the repair book I bought and it said that there are 4 types of bcm's
Low series - LOW level; controls - centre door locking, engine immobiliser system, courtesy lamp delay, automatic lamps off, heated rear window, air conditioning, boot release, engine cooling fan low speed and cruize control.
Low series - MID level; controls - As for LOW level with wiper and the power window control functions.
High series - Lux level; controls - As for Low series - MID level with the following extra functions: Variable windscreen wiper delay, power aerial, instrument lamp dimmer, automatic lamps off with delay, theft deterrent system and the driver perferred setting.
High series - Hi level; controls - As for High series - LUX level with the following extra functions: Rear lamp failure warning, speed sensitive power steering, automatic lamps on.
Executive, equipe, acclaim, S and SS models are equipped with a low series BCM. For models without power windows a LOW level BCM is available, while a MID level is available for models with power windows
Hope this helps
