Evening folks,

Had a great day at the Holden vs Ford show at "The Shed", and was thrilled to be able to witness the CAPA 900+ RWHP run on the Sunday. Sorry that I missed the ROAZ run.
What has go me fired up are the comments that the spokesman from APS made prior to the run by their two Falcons.
Many people heard the statements in relation to the fact that "the cars that were being run, or cars prepared by APS were the only "legal" street vehicle in the modified cars on display."
I don't mind people flogging their product, but I would like some feedback on this issue.

Cheers,

Hogs, :)

I did post the same thoughts in the review and I am assuming this was the saturday in question.
His manner was atrocious and his respect for the car loving community was horrid. He would last 3 minutes in my business before someone punched his lights out. Most people know that the worst way to sell a product is to bag the oppositions product.
The line that took me over the edge was this one re the Phase 3. " There has not been a car that has come on the dyno today that compares with this setup. People had spent a lot of money on there cars and still none have come close to our product. Not even a heavily modified V8 let alone a car that even 'resembles' something thats street driven"

Hundreds of people in that room had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on there cars only to have an attempted belittlement from this fool.

Hmmm... Cars that resemble street driven vehicles. Well, there's mine, and then there's Dane's, and then there's JohnW's, etc, etc, etc...

Yes - I heard these statements first hand a couple of times. It's a real shame, as it is FUD, and FUD makes things harder for everyone. Especially considering that their product is more than capable of standing on it's own two feet. He did a similar thing up in Brisbane. At that show my car was still "unknown". It was really funny, because all day Saturday he was spruiking that you won't see ANY V8 make more power than the Phase 3 XR6T. Then my car was run around 5:30pm and it made 675rwhp. On Sunday the story changed to say that you won't find ANY V8's "except for one" that make more power... :) I know it's far from a fair comparison, but heck, I wasn't the one to make it. Hopefully his peers in the business can chat to him and get him to focus on other aspects of the product, such as features and benefits. A lot of money has gone into developing it, and it seems a shame to have the brand tarnished by unprofessional marketing techniques.

I heard (from Dane himself) that Dane had a stand up "discussion" with the person involved on the APS stand. I saw a couple of folks from F1 who were absolutely livid. Joe from TBS was amazed at the claim, because having worked in experimental engines at Holden for three years (a little while ago) he knows a bit about the testing process and the rules (and ROARZ was accordingly built to the current specs), and it's pretty straight forward to build cars to meet the specs. Of course, you need to engineer for it, but it's something that all the builders are aware of, and it's something they all seem to be catering for in their setups. I believe APS has discussed this themselves over in the ADR/EPA thread for their new TT setup.

Bloody hell glad that I didn't hear that or he would be getting a crankshaft out of his behind with a comment like that!

Promoting a product or two is one thing but being arrogant about it is another.

i wasn't there. but i would assume to do with full emissions testing on the modifications to the latest standards has passed this...

If this is the same person who has been there spokesman at the Albury & Sydney events (red shoes) than I agree with your statements. He is the most arrogant and single minded ****wit in the show scene. I agree with Large that if he was in my business than he wouldn't last very long at all before someone pulled him into line. I even had the pleasure - not, of staying in the same motel once and he treated the staff like shit and strutted around like his shit didn't stink. For APS sake they should find a new spokesman, or maybe they should leave him there as I am sure it does other business good as who would go to APS after his antics and statements...............

my 2c worth.

Guys - there are already other threads on the Holden vs Ford show, including posts regards the APS representative. Put your opinions in there.

Having these multiple separate threads started on the APS representative forces me to have to question the real motivations behind them. I'm sure by now APS would be well aware of people's opinions, and will react if and as they see fit. If you are so concerned, why not contact them direct.

*edit - it has been subsequently suggested that this was more technical glitch (wrong button pressed). Motivation no longer questioned. *
