I was just wondering if anyone has any genuine peformance figures for any of HSVs awd drives. not just estimated times. I have read one comparison of an avalanche wagon with a cayeene and they were quoting advetra quarter times. The write up was pretty one sided, he must have had a bad day. I can say im pretty impressed with mine , the level of grip is un believable. The car as an allround package is impressive. And i was a ford nut.

I am driving an LX8 Adventra and it's just awesome. Grip is unreal, especially in the wet. Would have preferred an Avalanche, but coinage wasn't stretching that far

When my Adventra was built, down @ Starr in Melb. the Dyno Dynamics put her in the 300-awkW slot at about 13C day temperature.
The other day after a few adjustments, feeling like it was going harder I put it on another Dyno Dynamics machine here in Sydney to re-check the kW. Unfortunately the day we picked was one of the "hot ones" we just had, the car measured the outside temp at 50C on the way there and 46C in the dyno room. The Adventra dropped 55 kW to 245 awkW when 33C hotter. You could tell the temp was certainly taking the edge of her.
If I could find a standing 400m, say on a coolish day (or night) not to far from Sydney city, then I could give you some figures on what the AWD can do with a kick in the arse. Where and when is the best place to get these figures?

Have you done any suspension modifications to Adventra?

Would love to see the results of one of these AWD with ST's LS1 turbo. That much torque with that much grip would have to be the shit, surely? :D I'm not sure if the turbo has been tested on an AWD (although I believe its designed to fit), but if anybody knows different, would love to know.

Suspension lowering and stiffening are all that's left to do (it's running Harrop's 381 x 6 pot front & 355 x 4 pot rear) having a few issues with drive shafts fighting with anti-sway bar and ball joints fighting with discs at present, as soon as I sort them out I'll lower it. Torque is around 820nm.
With the traction control fuse pulled, and the ambient temp goes below 20C, front wheels will flame at will which pulls some interesting looks in a commodore station wagon. :D

How is your gearbox holding up to it all? Also one of the forum members (Large) had some serious intervention issues by the traction control recently at Calder in his Adventra. Have you got around these issues?

We melted the first auto at 3000 k however, Craig whipped it apart and found some issues, now corrected with just a stronger modulator spring and different compositions in clutches and bands, it seems fine, we do expect to kill it again, then the 4L80E will be on the slab. A lot of homework has already been carried out by Craig in this area.
With the track-control, if you're going to be an animal, :D pull the fuse. I was chatting with Damian @ Harrop's and suggested this to him, next time we chatted he was very impressed, changes the beast completely when a blower is fitted.
The fuse to pull is the left fuse closest to you when standing in front of the vehicle looking at the windscreen.
I'm about to wire up a relay under the fuse with switch in side. Dick's Electronics is waiting for me to drop by and down load the program to see if the track and ABS can be separated (long term)
