I dont know how true this is becuase it was a txt message from the track by a 'mate' - apparently Ambrose destroyed his car this morning in first practice, hitting the wall on turn 1 ... he is OK but the car is a gonner ... it happened just 20 minutes after Seton did the same thing on the same turn ...
Like I said, take it with a grain of salt - I am not sure whether I am being baited or not ...
cheers

I think theyre having you on - Ambrose set the fastest lap ahead of Skaife and Ingall in the 1st practise (Seton was 25th) and had the 2nd best time behind Bright and ahead of Skaife in the 2nd practise (Seton 25th again)

Motor: Ambrose smashes car
Ford driver MARCOS AMBROSE has got off to a bad start in his
attempt to wrap up back-to-back V8 Supercar championships at
Eastern Creek this weekend.
AMBROSE crashed his car into a wall during this morning's
opening session.
He was unhurt but the car suffered substantial damage to the
rear end when he lost control of the car.
It's unsure whether AMBROSE's car will be fixed in time for this
afternoon's second practice session.
AMBROSE needs to finish only 15th or higher in one of this
weekend's three races to claim successive championships.

Just came home from Eastern Creek. Ambrose's car made it out this arvo and he was 2nd quickest.
So rumours about destroying his car are wrong - but it certainly was a spectular lose down at turn 1.
Sat on turn 2 for the practice session this afternoon. One of the historics lost oil or petrol big time on turn 3. It was bloody mayhem. Everyone ignored the yellow and debris flags and went flying off on the oil. Bloody dangerous. It was like an ice skating ring.
Anyway from practice this arvo i think it was Bright , Ambrose , Skaife , T Kelly who were fastest. Rick Kelly and Murphy were around 20-25th somewhere. They have also swapped cars for this meet ? Supposedly to give Murph the better car and a better chance of coming 2nd overall. But gee all that bloke did on the radio all day was whinge about how bad his car was.

If Murphy ever stops whinging someone should check him for a pulse. :p

 did you see V8 Superstars last week. Murph labeled Rick "Crash Bandicoot". Rick likes the name and wants to stick with it to. Not good for the General though, he'll be bending his car all the time raming the fords.

Well done SBR on a perfect 1-2 championship win.
Can't believe both the HRT cars went out on the first corner of the first lap. Damn, that's some bad luck. Hopefully Lowndes will have more luck with his new team next year. Poor bugger has had such a bad run with engine reliability. Luckily for him the engines that he will be using next year come from the SBR stable.
