Not sure whether or not it falls under your area of expertise or not, but I was wondering when Holden are going to stop using the weights that are attached to the rim edges as apposed to the self-adhesive style fitted inside the rim, to all of its cars fitted with alloy wheels. I believe that the SS’s with 18’s now use this system but the SV6 still relies on the older type that marks the outside of the rim. It’s very annoying to see a new mark every time the wheels are balanced again. Thanks and I look forward to reading your response. Thanks Stephen Moore.

Hey Stephen - You're right in so far as Holden has been using newer style weights on some wheels. They are starting to be applied when the rim has no flange (eg Monaro) and could not be attached in any event. Aside from cost, the interior weights take much longer to apply - the term "self adhesive" is relative because the rim needs to be spotless for the weight to remain fixed.
