I am considering replacing my standard 2 piece tailshaft with a one piece, has anyone done this or heard of it being done. I would like to know if it is worth while and what are the problems if there are any.

Do a "search."
This has been covered.
Basically one-piece is rpm-limited and will cause problems on most cars at higher speed.

Why do you want to replace it with a one piece mate??

wondering if it is worth the hassle to replace all the worn components that will only fail again or for around the same price to have a one piece made.

As said a VT 1 Tail shaft is the go. A few people on this forum run them on their supercharged and stroked cars and love them.

Not that simple mate, also the should not wear that quickly for you to be thinking about it. Replacing tail shafts is a rare thing, your do it once and forget about it for YEARS
