Well, finally got it back on Saturday - DAMN IS IT FUN!

Drove it pretty easy on the weekend and started giving it a belt this morning
What can i say - it screams!

Very unusual feeling though as im use to hearing revs and or exhaust note build and the car kick out with the sound but because it's a standard engine and the turbos tend to muffle the sound it just sort of jumps out and scares the crap out of you

Having driven / owned cars with more power it's a strange feeling to have this happen but thank god for my Cebco brakes as i know i can always get out of the shyt if needed

On the highway at 100k's all you have to do is lean on the throttle and it'll hit 200 in a flash

Haven't had a chance to line anyone up yet, and not really worried about it till i get use to the car again, but i dont think there'll be much that could get near me.
Although im sure there's a lot quicker car but since it's so quiet they wouldn't really be prepared for the car to take off so quick and would leave them a bit gob smacked im sure.

Fuel consumption is the same, if not better at cruising speed from what i can tell so far and if there is a complaint to be made it would have to be traction control. I keep it off and have only turned it back on in the wet.

Although I have a 3000rpm dominator converter and expected it to have some lag down low because of it im yet to find any lag at all. Boost feels instant which is obviously thanks to well sized turbos for the kit and the converter is nice and tight

Also, big thumbs up to Craig for building such a great box. Naturally the strip will be the main test but as Craig said that this is somewhat of a test as it is the exact same box he does for the NA cars and wasn’t 100% sure how it would go with the turbo but so far it’s absolutely flawless

Couldn’t be happier – and it’s only the stage 1 kit :)

forgot to send dyno sheet up with the car but it's making 335rwkw (450rwhp) on 8psi (stage 1 kit)

Was thinking of getting the stage 2 but really no point in a daily driver, it's lightning fast anyway and should run 11's

it's running the DiFillipo twin 3-in and the kit is as they quote $16,000 drive in - drive out, plus exhaust

it's so tempting to gut the car and wind the boot but i want to test it real world with pump gas as there seems to be a lot of strange things going on with some kits

mmmmmm
Well since i get massive wheel spin i cant mash the throttle so it was only half way to the floor (still got wheel spin though) and it wasn't keeping up
What's the line from that movie? "Had me?, you never had me"

Yeah yeah i know you had him... traction problems :stick: so how close were you Oztrack :D ?

I have always wanted to know how a good cammed LS1 would go on the 'street' verses a Turbo'd LS1, this is a great comparon for us all, would love some greater detail please, was it a fair launch? did you both hit power together? how many cars diffrence was ther from 100-180 i.e. at 100 there was 1 car and 180 there were 10 cars???

well im not putting anything about speed on a forum :bash:

Lanes we're full so we started with him behind me in the right lane to you cant really compare as we would need to do it heads up

If it goes through EPA emissions test ok on monday i plan to take it to the track on wednesday night and run it in full street trim so we'll know then i guess

Ill also take it to a weigh station next week to get it checked while im at it and see how heavy it is with all the extras

I was behind him and waited from the start about 1/3 throttle initially ( i have Re55s on and would not want to shunt him in the rear-end) once rolling and WOT i changed lanes to the right lane. He was spinning and i was catching him at about 80kph, then when i went into third he started to move away similar to what VXLS1 used to before i got my cam installed. (VXLs1 12.4 with 3000 converter 110mph vs oztrack 13.03 no converter and 108mph) So i guess by end track at WSID from end of second in mine - he would get out by maybe 4 car lengths.

With these tyres i think i would be in front at 100kph though. :)
and this afternoon i Just changed the oil - so would be maybe a car length closer now ;)

I am very happy with how my car is going since Tuesdays tune - we got another 3 degrees timing into it and 6 degrees above 5000rpm, i can feel the difference.

I reckon with same tyres as me - STREET will run run 11.60 and 120mph. With street tyres similar to Drewbytes 12.2/119mph. I reckon my car with standard stall on a 20 degree day can run near 12.4/115mph

I have to say - that I think Turbo option for an LS1 is the greatest thing out.
Would love to have the cash to TT mine and also give it best possible steering and braking.

Mine is fun for a while though and i cant hesitate to recommend baby cams.

It was fun blasting with Street - i had no idea what the car had in it. But i guessed it would be something good.

Cant wait to see the feature in the mag, good to see your showing us what can be done to the beloved Commodore. I stumbled upon a Street Machine Magazine from with a few articles in it of which I found amusing. The first one talked about Martin Donnan from Fueltronics putting a Twin Turbo 300ZX Motor into a Rover 2500 or something, getting 250rwkw! Another Article in there was the Winner of Summernats 11 Horsepower Heroes, non other than Jason Gray with a Blown 355 VS Senator, with 404rwhp! Ironic how your Monaro puts out roughly 450rwhp and it is only stage 1!!!

Great work there Jason, you are your car are great Ambassadors for both Holden and Performance cars in general.
