I have just recieved a cheque in the mail from Holden! Well it is not a real cheque but a coupon for $2000 off the best price you can negotiate on an 04 plated SS commodore. Hmmm runout VYII SS with another 2k off it. Tempting! Pity it is not off a Monaro! Any body else recieve one of these?

Very interesting. I wonder if someone without one of these can negotiate a further $2k off with the dealer? If not, you could even hang around a dealership, find a buyer and do a deal with her/him (maybe $1k each). If they are strict about the cheque only being redeemable for a car sold to you personally, you could buy the car unregistered then have it immediately registered in the name of the buyer.

Yeah I got one, $2k off after the haggling with the dealer is done. Also got sent a $1000 cash back deal on any Monaro, SS, Caprice for going to the performance drive day at Barbagallo. They a sure are trying hard

are these cheques for cars purchased recently (i.e. after the release of the VZ), or all 04 plated cars?

mine is an 04 plated car, and it was considered to be a runout when I got in Aug 04.

Was it associated with the 'Holden Mastercard'?
A $2k voucher plus the $3K currently on the mastercard, very tempting :D

I wonder at the end of the day if it is just part of the factory bonus that the dealer calculates in anyway on run-outs, ie: say the normal factory run-out bonus is say $7k I wonder if it is now only $5k and then you get the extra $2k bonus so it looks like you are getting extra. When I bought my VX SS as a run-out I got $8k straight off the top for cash back in 2001.
Would be interesting to see if you drove a real hard bargain and got a ripper deal, whether another $2k would come off the top when you flashed the bonus cheque.

Yeah I got one. "Naughty List" or some crap on it. Mine was for 04 plated SS Sedans, xtra 2k off best negotiated price up until end of Feb. I filed mine :D . I take it its gone to people who have bought an SS or two in their time as that's my only association with Holden. I guess it will entice people to go buy one thinking they are getting a bonza deal. If you know how to screw them (oops I meant deal) then you should be able to do just as good without it.

I got one as well, the fine print says 04 plated SS sedan, which is ordered, invoiced, registered and delivered between Dec 20 2004 and Feb 28 2005

"only the person who's name appears on this voucher is eligible" blah blah blah

Demonstrators not eligible, one claim per person, blah blah blah

Same here. I received the cheque also. At least it makes things that much easier on the financial side without having to spend for years using the GM card.

If it's what I'm thinking, the cars being offered with the extra 2k off are cars that have been sitting either at the dealers or at one of Holdens yards for longer than 120 days ie stock that is not moving (that figure came from a dealer). Theres nothing wrong with the cars, they just might not be the right colour/trim options etc that people want, so they sit there and wait. Anyone here walked into a dealer and found they have just the car you are after and it'll be delivered in less than a coupla weeks? Chances are it's been sitting around for a while! One way to verify this is to check the build date and compare it to the time of sale......
BTW that discount does go on top of your GM rebate! :)

That's what I'm thinking too.
Also, for those saying you should be able to do just as well without the cheque....couldn't you bargain them down to the best possible price (as per usual), then at the last minute, spring the $2k cheque on them?

They wouldn't have to know about it until they've already given you their best price.

It's a fair bet the dealers already know about the cheques.

How do you qualify for one of these,I`ve bought 2 new cars off Holden in the last year[Astra and Crewman],even though I wouldn`t use it,it would be nice to be reconised.I would use it if I could get a SS Crewman with it.

Dunno how it works, I bought an SS over 5 years ago (Oct 99) and I got a cheque.

Sure, but they won't necessarily know who has one.

They will probably say we have already given you that rebate as well, as we know Holden were offering this and whether you have a cheque or not we are good blokes and have given it to you anyway...I can't see Holden giving you their full rebate that they give the dealers to move stock then giving you another $2k on top of that. I have my cheque sitting here but I bet I could get the same deal with or without it.

The other thing is this may be only a small $2k Holden rebate at the moment and this is all the dealers can offer and later in Jan/Feb when they start their official '04 run-outs then the big $6k to $8k discounts may kick in, this may be just a bit of an incentive to see if they can move a few before they have to start with the big discounts.

I got one too & I got my SS in 2001.

The Feb 28 cutoff date ties in with the model refresh which is occuring in March (like the SV8 getting the SV6 body kit) so they're trying to shift the floor stock before then.

Who knows what goodies the SS may get in March - may be worth holding off a bit longer till we know more :)

I got one a few days ago as well. By the looks of it after a quick glance through this thread those who got them are driving VX II cars or earlier.

It seems they have expanded the colour options aswell, (more impulse cars on the road :bash: ) Certainly with all the new features in the SV8, the SS is going to loose even more of it's identity.
