Was out at Willowbank last night and was talking to V82xist about an intake for the Adventra. I mentioned to him that there is a pipe running from the airbox up to just below the u/s of the little "grille" on the right side of the car.
We started talking about the idea that maybe holden did this so that the Adventra would still be able to travel through water if used in an off-road situation??? If this were the case, could I use a OTRCAI. The downside I see with this is that the one he had on his car uses a plate to scoop air from under the grille. Bit of a predicament.
You guys got got any ideas.

V82xist has the Sureflo OTRCAI. Take a look at the Powertorque version which if I recall doesn't have the plate you refer to. If you wish to take your car on a trip into an offroad situation where you'll be driving thru deep water, just spend 2 minutes before you go removing the OTRCAI and plugging the original stock one back on, then switch back again after you return. :)

Sorry take no notice of my first thread. Am getting a little confused. When I started talking about gettin a CAI for the LX8 I was continually told to get a MCAI. I searched and found a post by a guy who had done a step by step guide to the mod he did with photos. Here it is.

I assumed mine was the same and was going to go down to Holden and buy the parts and perform the mod. Well, with the LX8 being a VY11 it already has the shroud and 1 pipe between the box and the shroud. I assume then that this is the Monaro CAI and that I only need to do the second hole mod?
V82xist was running a OTRCAI and we talked about the idea of using one of these. The problem we could forsee with thtis is if I do go offroad, I'm possibly opening myself up to getting allsorts of things in there. PLease help.

Yeah, I just remembered that. I have seen the Powertorque one and from what I remember the filter is visible when you open the bonnet. The sureflow one is good in that it's hidden. But maybe that's a bad thing from underneath.

The fact that you can see the filter on one and not the other really makes no difference.... as long as it's in between the dirty air and your throttle body it's all good :D It's all about whether it does the job intended - filter the air and make more power - that matters.
Suffice to say you need a MAFless tune for an OTR version though
