Hi all,
I am currently in the market for a VY LS1.
But I have two options and need your opinions.
I was looking at either a SV8 or SS to be my own weekend car as I have to have a ute for work as I am a furniture removalist.

But the way I look at it, I will be paying $200+ for a car that I would drive a few times a week.

Or my other option is a VY 1 Tonner.
Now this car would obviously be used everyday as a work vehicle and also my weekend car.
Repayments would be around the same, even less, but I could possibly write off costs as I will use it for work.( I do not own the business I work for, but my father owns the business), but the kms would be higher and it would be trashed a little as I will be throwing boxes, etc in the back and from daily driving all around Sydney
I could look into leasing and so forth.

My work ute at the moment is a POS 92 Ford Courier with no air, no P/S and has had around 1 million crashes from previous workers.

The reason I am still thinking about the SS is because of the interior, seats, dash etc.

I will only be doing this job for around another 18 months to 2 years as I am starting my career later next year or early 06, so the ute will be only viable for that period.

So what do you guys think?
Go for an SS and pay the dollars only for the weekend, or get the tonner, and lose the sedan, and all the SS gadgets, but it could work out money wise.
Mind you a SS Ute is out of the question as I have already had one and I need a tonner for the work I do.

Thanks for reading.

Sounds like you should go for the SS if your not gonna need a ute once you finished working for your dad. So i'd say it'd get less dinged up and less km's therefore be worth more when you wanna sell. Also, its a pain only having 2 seats.

Am I missing something here but is an SS ute an option to solve both weekday and weekend requirements, for the interim?

I've re-read the posts a few times so please tell me if I've mistaken something.

OK OK, re-read it again a third time and saw the one line about the SS ute. My mistake. Carry on.

Cheers,
Steve

CSV have been doing some very nice custom tonners lately.

In particular they did a full hog matching pair of VZs, complete with shaped metal panels/skirts around the lower area under the tray, for two brothers who were in business together.

I'll look out if there are some pics about?
