View Full Version : How should a VXII look?

On tuesday afternoon I had the pleasure of driving my VXII SS into a concrete barrier while driving down the freeway, just what I needed first day back to work after a breif holiday.

As there is no point crying over spilt milk and all that, I have chosen to focus on the few positives... Since the front bar, bonnet, front qtr pannels, and rear bar (atleast) need replacing now I have the oportunity to replace the stock kit with whatever and only pay the difference (which would ideally not be massive).

Anyone have any good sugestions? my first thought was a GTO kit, but have been told this is hard to get and not cheep, plus the more I look at it the less sure I am about it. I am about 95% set on getting the bonnet with scoops though.

Current thinking is to replace the SS kit and just add the monaro bonnet. 2 parts I would like to change on that though is the stock grill (can this be replaced with a nice mesh or something??) and would not mind lossing those stupid reflectors in the rear bar.

any thoughts (constructive) are welcome

P.S. appologies to anyone delayed on the eastern tuesday arvo

You are required by law to have some form of reflectors on the back of your car. The exec/SS have them in the rear bar, whereas the Calais/Berlina have them in the taillights. So to do it "legally" you'd have to replace your taillights with the calais/berlina ones.

Where are they on a monaro then?

I dont recall them being being part of the tail lights (which I have) And am fairly sure they are not part of the bumper...

Will keep them if I need to, but if they dont have to be there, would like them to go away

go out to your ride, shine a torch at the rear lights; that'll tell you where the reflectors are! As XLR8_V8 said, the reflectors are required by law, which means fitting the rear decor panel from a Calais if you want to run the standard taillights without the reflectors in the rear bumper.

If you currently have monaro taillights then you're fine. The reflectors for those are right in the centre of the brake light.

You Should fit a Monaro front, VZ Monaro Bonnett, Monaro 427 tailights, VX Clubby rear bar, replace fender badges with 5.7 HIGH OUTPUT V8 badge's, & front & rear CHEV badges. that would look awesome :D

Would have done the 'torch check' but unfortunalty my ride sits in poor condition at a body shop...

Thanks XLR8_V8 for the confirmation the monaro lights will do the job. I dont hate the other reflectors, just think it looks a lot cleaner without them.

Already have(had) twin red LS1 covers... there seems to be a radiator pressed up against them now... Ill make sure they are replaced if scratch - if I am already paying an excess they better put my baby back to perfect (or better)

I think I am going to have problems replacing the CIA, was a pod setup in a custom looking box, was already done when I bought it and have no idea where it came from...
It may have survived but I doubt it

Thats a good question... was just driving home from work not doing anything silly or even speeding. The road was wet, there must have been oil or something in a patch I hit becuase I went from going strait to going sideways all of a sudden...
