has it got a rear wing? mine was doing the same thing ended up being the rubber seal under the wing were it mounts onto the boot.

My bro has the same problem, we changed the rubber seals where the wing meets the boots and this seemed to fix it temporarily, I think only because we had to tear the foam "gasket" to get it around the wiring going to wing light...

Going to try again soon.
Other possibility is that it may be the rear fascia (the part the no. plate attaches to) rubber as it appears just a little worn (from age).

Had the same problem with my prelude when i still had it. Took off the wing, the rubber was still ok, so put a bit of silicone on the foam of the wing. Worked a treat. ;)

I've got the same problem but I don't have a rear wing..

I'm contemplating drilling two holes in the absolute bottom of the boot lid where the water gets trapped but just uncertain about how to seal it to stop rust.

Hey. Its a standard prob on the VT. A cheap solution is to do as I did, and get a colour coded VX middle panel (between lights). I paid $280.00 painted bey my local panel beater. now it never does it! :)

the bottom painted section is plastic that traps the water won't rust

But it is also happening on a VX SS.

Had this on my VT, drilled 2 holes where the inside of the bootlid meets the outside part, on the outer corners, about an inch more out from thefactory holes, and right where the two parts meet. I had done the Monaro light/VX garnish mod and it still leaked, the holes let the water out and no more rivers flowed out when I opened the lid. If someone can get me a pic of the bottom edge of the bootlid I can show you where I drilled. My car is long gone so I can't get photos.

Got a VS "SS", A VT ClubSport and a VX Calais in the driveway, all 3 have had the same problem at one time or another. All three have wings, but this was only the problem on the VS. The VT and the VX boot wing/spoilers are both screwed into the bootlid on the outside of the weather seal so if they leak, the water would not run into the boot, it would run out the "channels" either side of the boot. Both cars had leaks around the centre fascia (where the rego plate screws on) causing the problems you describe (2 streams of water running out either side of the bootlid onto the boot floor whenever it rains or once the car is washed) the fascia is attached under the boot lid using studs. These studs may be loose (but be careful of over-tightening as they are only mounted into plastic and could easily break). More likely the standard seal is knackered and can be replaced with a non-setting gasket compound (or a silicone based one if you never want to remove the fascia again). This has certainly solved the VT/VX problems we've had.
