Gday Guys
I have a heap of photos that are very high res (taken with 5MP Digital Camera) and want to resize them pretty quickly and easily to either email or upload onto the internet. I was wondering what software people have had experience with in doing so, is there anything decent freely available that can help?

Cheers

http://www.irfanview.com/

Program can perform batch processing to resize large numbers of photos at a time.

Note he said "freely" available... I don't think he wants to spend $1000+ just to resize some pics ;) :p

Thanks for the help guys. Just out of curiousity, what is a good pixel size (height and width) to resize pics for email and uploading so as to cater for everyone no matter what internet connection?

I have gone with Irfanview mainly because i like the idea of a batch conversion of a heap of photos.

I usully do 1024 X 768 at medium quality for the internet ... keeps each pic around the 120Kb mark .. or you could try 800 X 600 to get about 75kb per image

running along the same lines - If I had a pic of the car that I wanted to change size so that I could use it is an avatar (I know I'm not validated yet but I'm trying) what would you use.

use ifranview and select the size allowed 80 x 80 pixels

I would resize to 150 x 75 then make a highlight that was 80 x 80 and try to get the car into it

Haggy,
800 x 600 would be as small as you'd want to go - any smaller and you might as well have a phone camera rather than a 5MP beauty.:D Preferably minimum of 1024 x 768 to retain good detail without huge file sizes.

Interesting tip!
