I am about to start a project car in memory of my younger brother Brad. He was recently killed in a motor cycle accident. "13th Dec 2004". It was always a dream of his to have a hot streeter built for the nats. So my father, older brother, mates and I are intending on fulfilling this dream for him for Nats 2006. He left behind a VP ute v6, which he bought to drop a v8 into it. He had also a set of 20's ready to bolt on. We have just about sourced a 383 stroker purpose built for a diet of high octane and forced induction. Paint has alredy been supplied, along with a spray painter and an air brusher. This will be a large project, so anyone wishing to lend a hand in anyway, whether it be in the way of knowledge in the area of ttv8's and the way to go with setting it all up or sourcing parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Scott (vx ss 350kw) ,

That was a very sad day for me when I heard the news mate, and something that I still think about all the time. I can personally say that I found Brad a really good guy, and someone that definately will be missed by a hell lot of people. If anyone on here can lend a hand to 'vx ss 350kw', please do.

I have to go overseas for 3 months in february with work, but when I return you can count me in for anything at all that I can help you out with. I'll definately give you a call when I get back.

*R.I.P Brad*

Hi Azza, was not sure if you had heard the news about Brad, it was the lowest of lows for me. Something you would not even wish upon your worst enemy. But I suppose he made sure he enjoyed the life he did live and never wasted a minute of time. Make sure you stop in when down next.

Hi again, have found a gearbox that i think will handle the power and suit the car ( supra TT 6 speed ). Can get this box for around 2k, through an importer my older bro knows. If anyone knows how strong these boxes are let me know.

they are a very strong box - several TT supras are putting out 500+FWKW with no gearbox hassles. They are made by getrag.

That is also a very good price, they usually sell for at least double that.

Good luck with the project.

Hi exwrx, I thought that they were fairly strong, but just needed a little someone to confirm my theory, thanx heaps. What about two stock rex turbos to get the thing started? I would not mind starting mild to get it all going 1st before going WILD. They should flow enough air to run engine to at least 2/3 throttle before starving motor, should'nt they? And can be picked up fairly cheap? im sure there should be a few spares floating around. All input is greatly appreciated.

Any questions you want answered about turbocharging and the system hardware, please feel free to ask me.... :)

Hi street tuna, do you think rex turbos would do to start with, as this project will be on a low budget to start with? (except engine and driveline). Would they flow enough air?

Just....maybe

If not sure on rex turbos,do you think stock t3 vl turbos would spool up easily enough, or maybe ball bearing t28's?

I have seen two t28s pushing air into a feisty 355, while small I was advised they were up to the job.

Hi all, finally we have the VP in our posession. There were a few dramas to start with as the car was not completeley paid for and the deal was only known by previous owner and my BRO. But we have now completely paid for the VP, "Let the games begin".

A few changes have now been made to the original plans. My Brother still owed money on the VP ute and the guy wanted the money owed or the car back. My brother and I were unable to get the cash in time so we agreed to return the Ute. Now my Bro also had a unregistered VN Calais V6 which he had already begun to remove engine and driveline. Now this car was definately completely paid for and nothing owing on it. So now the Calais becomes the build car. Now we know there will be more work in the sedan, but who cares anyway. I will have some pics soon.
