6.15-6.30 on a Sunday morning

I didn't even know they MADE a 6:15 in the morning! Just a bit too early for me (especially with a mate's 21st the night before).

As I said in the other thread - the video camera will be in attendance, hopefully with my videographer again (aka Dad).

Cheers,

Well, I wasn't actually invited, but thought i might turn up in the passenger seat of the VL anyway haha... i mean, dave and ryan were talking it up so much the night before - how could i resist? and wasn't it worth it? some hot cars, hot weather and a HOT show :D

Highlight of the day - whitnessing the first rolls royce in history to drift!!! (i think)

Thanks to Ryzz for organising it! Maybe next time i'l have my own LS1, and a car to put it in

Ahhh the Rolls, if only his Dad knew he wasn't going to the country club for a round of golf and tennis!

Was an awesome day and i dare say everyone had a blast :D

I never knew how much punishment could be dished out to a rental car :bash:

Good to see everyone, WORKEDVYSV8 & LUVMYSV8, Scat2k3, Tiger SS, MustardVXSS, etc etc etc. The list just goes on. Was a FanFukinTastic day and fun had by all!!!!

For those that didnt come, pull your finger out and come along next time, you will have a blast.

Oh and the rolls......what can i say, you have never seen body roll until you've seen this rolls, the body kept pitching and rocking for minutes after the car was parked!!!!

Also a big big thank you goes to Aaron & Matt McGill from Auto-Motion Australia for running a fantastic day. The amount of freedom we had to experiment and learn was amazing. The guys put on a excellent day and i dare say everyone enjoyed it!!!

Will post up some movies once i get time to rip them off the video camera!!! Hopefully someone else can post up some photos of today as well!!!

What a great day!!!! Well done Ryzz. Next time I'll join in for sure. There was some real good driving out there yesterday and some great sounding LS1's. Thanks for the ride in the Crewy Darren that was very cool.
It was great meeting a lot of the guys out there and trying to put a name to the nick name to the face to the car.
Also finally met one of the big shit stirrers on here.... You know who you are...

Looking forward to the next one.

Not me

What a day!!! Top fun, finally learnt how hard it is to drift a commodore with hard arse suspension... Still managed to get some serious drifting in, need another day at it!

My palms and hands are farked from drifting :D Maybe need a sheep skin cover on the wheel next time

What a race the VB challenge was! You barstard, you beat me, only a by a bee's dick, but it was enough! Good job, congrat's  Have fun in the Supercar

Oh yeah, thanks to Ryzz for organising it!

Mustard, what can i say :stick:

I have a couple of good photos which i will post up 2nite, top on of the rolla with his hound out the window, i also have a video of PlanB drifting the tubo VZ ute  Need someone to host the video...

I would give my left arm for a good photo of my car (Loud, black, SV8 with SS kit with deep dish 19's) in full drift, if you have one please PM me or email on fastls1@gmail.com

Now, about that left arm....

Ryzz, thank you for organising yesterday. It was an absolute hoot.

Some highlights:

The absolute caining Ryzz and, particularly his dad gave to that falcon. He came up to me after one run on the figure eight and the convo went like this

Nice recovery Steve, look at the rubber you left
Did I do that one ?
No, you did both

There was so much smoke that the track officals asked us to back off as it was causing smoke clouds at turn one on the main race track

Seeing Aaron getting that Rolls Royce sideways with his arm pumping out the window  WAK IT got some video footage of that run on my camera, and I'll go through it all and post up some stuff when I get home from work.

Thinking that Ryzz had organised a fly past by the RAAF only to realise it was Plan B on the figure 8 track

Seeing my young bloke (chrisvlt) fling his VL around the figure 8

Justice in the red crewman nailing one run on that clover leaf course (which WAK IT also got on video) I don't think the thing travelled in a straight line for the entire course.

Aaron showing me how it should be done in the Monaro  Man there is so much to learn.

The VB Challenge. Close, but no cigar. Good on you Simon for taking that out.

Finally, hanging out with a fantastic bunch of people, all having a great time.
As muffdaddy said, it's not easy to link forum name, real name, face to the name and car when there were over 30 cars theres and then trying to remember them all.

WORKEDVYSV8, I'm pretty sure there is some video footage of you, but no photo's. There were heaps of video and still camera's clicking away yesterday. Might be an idea to start a multimedia thread for all of yesterdays footage.

Cheers,

Scott

Well done on the organising there Ryan. Not too bad for a Ford driver :stick: Special thanks to Aaron & partner for the instruction side of things, Linda the super organiser :D & Chantelle the grid girl. ;)

Had a sensational day. Catching up with new & old faces. Moderately stuffed when I got home after a full day on the pan & the 2.5hr drive back to Newie afterwards. Oh well the price of having fun.

Finally had a sort of match up with workedVYSV8 too. Having my arse handed to me on a platter wasn't part of the arrangement.

Caught some good footage on video. Much thanks to muffdaddy for his Steven Spielberg effort behind the camera. Most that I have checked so far goes like this.
Nice drift Carl...............ooops, more right foot should fix it !
Hang on to it Azza...............gooooooooooooooone. :D
There's Wazza Murray(Walker): "YES, HE JUST KEEPS GOING ROUND & ROUND & ROUND"
Watching Ryzz's dad smoke the rental: "The apple never falls too far from the tree"
Noice drfting Mr Scat. Can see where youngVLT gets it from.
Justice drifting the crewman  : Mate thats a lot of car to be drifting around the skidpan. Looked awesome.

Incar footage was "intesting" Lots of images of the JEBUS handle on the
passenger door & sound effects comprising largely of delerious laughter  . Not a great deal more. Good stuff thanks Azza & Ben.

Hard charger award would have to go to The green VYSS ute for best drift of the day (sorry forgotten the name). Full sideways at WOT. Great to watch.

Also to the Rolls(reddrop I think). 75 series tyres & 2.5t of weight on a wet skidpan was truely something to behold. If having a go is whats it's all about, top effort.

Cheers Dave.

thanks Ryzz for organising the event, much appreciated mate!!

I've only just managed to un-clentch my orifice - and come to the realisation i cannot really control 1600kg plus 300kw going sideways... I dont know how many times i completely lost control but i guess that's the whole point of the exercise.. to have fun, find the limits and go beyond them (in some cases waay beyond) with a wide grin in a controlled environment. Best tip of the day: "steer the car like a shopping trolley" ie from the back using the throttle!! Very difficult to find that balance point. I need more time on the pan, much more..

WAK IT
17-01-2005, 11:37 AM
I'll tell you what though, Forest maccas had about 4 cars... i was grinning. Thornleigh added on a few more... i was smiling. Shell near the Creek - my jaw nearly snapped when there were 30 HOT cars, and i couldn't not get the smile off my face all day! even still i'm havin flash backs!!!! LOVIN IT!!

trying to sleep last night, i could hear nothing but LS1's roaring in my head - The SV8, muffdaddy's SS, and more!!!!!!

Can't wait to see footage!

Awesome day guys. I'm glad I convinced Red-Drop to bring the Rolls.....seems to be the most talked about car there!

Love that figure of 8 track...awesome fun (though the Skid Pan's great too). Noteable mentions go to Car Lo in the ute for some AWESOME drifting towards the end of the day, and to JusticeR8 for throwing that lard-arsed Crewman around with such ease. :D

I've got an hour of footage which I'll probably cut down to 30 minutes or so. Will make another DVD if there's enough interest (and if I'm allowed to sell it again). Same deal as before, and the same donation to the tsunami fund.

EWWWHH the tyre roll on the black sv8, think you boys need to up the tyre pressure to 40psi, its not like you need traction, hope the rims are ok,

We had the same problem at the morwell hill climb people running low 30's where pretty turning on the rims.

Looks like it was a great day with lots of thrills & spills

The puddle of water i was driving in makes it look worse that it is (if look real close you will see it on the rear pretty easy), I reduced the quality of the image so its quicker on dial up so its not so easy 2 see... The rims are fine, couple of scratches when i came of the end of the straight flat out in second and took out the water box :bash: nothing major though

Dont need grip? Front grip is what keeps you from plowing into the fence  i only made it to the water box

A BIG thank to Ryan for arranging the great day at Eastern Creek, I had great day ( less 1 major problem )

The car is now in for repairs after the drive on Sunday 16 January 2004.

AAMI where REALLY good with the claim,
They were OK with incident happening on a Defencive Driver Training Day.

P.S. If you hear of anyone who might have some private footage of the Ute from Queensland , ( Mainly the last lot of Drifts ) please have them PM myself.

Car Lo - as I said before, great news with the insurance company. I must admit I'm pretty surprised they came to the party. I mean, they should have...but this is an insurance co we're talking about.

With your permission mate, I'd like to use one of your last drifts as the intro footage for the DVD (running in the background of the DVD menu). It shows the damage pretty clearly, but it's a fantastic drift - by far the best I managed to catch on camera. :)

I use the Azenis semi comp and they aren't too bad.
You can feel them when they go off and you just do a slow couple of laps then hard out again.
Suspension is a little firmer than standard, have a steering cooler with synthetic fluids.I definitely need bigger brakes.
I'm using the standard set up with EBC green stuff pads and DBA slotted discs, seems to stop ok.
My car is an auto with the 3.9 diff gears so its also more fun trying not to drift
Its all about fun and I'm still learning.
Had my mate in the car and he helped me get 4 seconds faster around the track just by slowing down at the apexes.

I'm also curious to know what (if any) licence you need for a trackday like that at EC. I've done a Wakefield day before, but I'm itching to do an EC one.
No licence needed as it is open track day like Wakefield or Oran Park.Pay your money for halve or full day, have long pants, long shirt, helmet (like in WSID)road licence and see which grade you think you would like to be in A,B1,B2,C
There is a track day at Wakefield this Wednesday.
Its probably a little hot to go in summer but I couldn't resist.
Beej has the right idea though if you intend to do a lot of track work you can get a licence and go more often and cheaper.
Dont like to hog this thread but I cant resit posting another picture :hide:

Hi guys.

Sorry for the bump but I just thought I'd mention this incase anyone missed the For Sale thread.

I've made a DVD with footage from the day. Over 30 mins worth, including photos etc.. (also has footage from an Oran Park Skidpan day last September).

$13, $2 of which goes to charity.

More info (inc pics of the DVD) here:

Cheers,
