Hi all. New here to this sight. Looks great.
Looking for some help and not really being a total "petrol head" need some help.
Have got a VY SS Series II ute that am having what seems major fuel problems with. Getting average of around 18 l/100klms around town in it. And thats not even flogging it. Have done exhaust work with "TaipanXP" - Pacemaked headers with HPC coat - dual 2.5 pipe.
Have been suggested to get it tuned. Dilema now is who and what sort of tune - have been told two good places in Brisbane - Brock Shop and Power Torque. Need to know what is better - a HP Tune of Mafless Tune??
I figure f I cant get fuel trim down - I should at least get better power! Any help appreciated..

I went to Powertorque and highly recommend them, as for Brock Shop I dont know much about them and I dont really know any forum members who have used them in Brisbane. I went for Mafless and think its great, I had the same problem of the extra fuel useage after zorst and extractors as well. The mafless has now brought my usage down to 16-17L/100km and goes heaps harder too now. You could consider a MAF tune, but I dont really know much about them.

Like most of us the temptation is to go for a maf-tune because it's a bit cheaper. But, having had a taste of that you will find that you then want to go maf-less and it makes such a differnce to the performance and the sweetness of the drive that you should just jump straight in and go maf-less. PowerTorque are the only way to go. They have the runs on the board and are good blokes into the bargain. Expect a reduction in fuel usage of about 2l/100 and an increase in tyre usage of about the 25% :)

Thanks for help guys - does the mafless tune have any danger of warranty void?
and should I do any induction work before I get tune??

Definitely visit PowerTorque is you want to go a head with a tune ... they sure have the results on the board. Also, it sounds like you may have fouled O2 sensors if your fuel consumption has suddenly iincreased markedly. Powertorque could also sort you out if this is an issue.

have had car on Holdens Tech 2 heaps of time and always comes up fine as far as any fuel trims and O2 sensor readings are concerned.

what do you mean markone2 - do you think that my problems are just something that they cannot pick up on the tech 2 sensor??

The standard Holden tune is notorious for running way too rich…your engine is performing far below its optimum state of tune...this is the way Holden has designed it to run with large margins of Safety and anti-abuse modes built into the tune....to sum up quickly the engine is retarded...and that I'm afraid is the sub total of the knowledge I have as to the workings of the cars pcm ;)
