Hi all. I have just bought a 1999 VT II R8 Clubsport, after owning a Mitsubishi Lancer for the last six years. It is the first "performance" vehicle I have owned (third vehicle I have ever owned ).
I would like to know if there is anything I need to know about this vehicle ie service points to look for, things that may need looking at regularly etc.
It is also the first car to ABS that I have owned - anything I need to know about braking etc.
Basically - what do I need to know to get the most enjoyment out of this vehicle..
Cheers

Drive it like you stole it :D
Seriously though..most LS1 commys are pretty good but a couple of common problems come to mind such as 'Piston Slap', 'Diff Chatter', also keep an eye on the inner edges of the rear tyres as they can wear quickly if tyre pressures aren't kept up.
If you do have a problem just do a search in this forum and you can bet you'll find an answer.
Enjoy the new wheels :D :)

As with every vehicle, wait until the engine gets up to temperature before giving it a bootful.
ABS - the procedure is: when driving in a straight line and you need to stop suddenly - stand on the brake pedal!!
As you've bought a second hand LS1, keep an eye on the oil level over the next 5000kms or so to make sure it doesn't suffer from excessive oil consumption - which even if it does, can be solved many types just by changing brand/viscosity of oil.
If the car hasn't been fitted with a camber kit to the rear, make sure you rotate the tyres very regularly to minimise the inner wear experienced by many VT owners.
Most of all .... have fun with it!! They are a highly enjoyable package to own.

Also seeing it is your first car with ABS, go find an empty bit of road, go for a run and absolutely stand on the brakes a few times to activate the ABS so you know what it feels like. The pedal will shudder under your foot and the system will make some funky noises, but this is all normal, it's just somep people don't realise this when the first drive an ABS car and freak when that happens and often get off the brakes in an emergency.

Thanks for that. The car will be delivered late next week some time. I am almost like a little kid with a new toy, I couldn't sleep last night, in anticipation.
I have been looking at the Ls1 Edit. Very impressive.
Any thoughts on the combo Ls1 Edit with De Filippo exhaust system?

Use good fuel
open it up hard ATLEAST once a week (or every time you drive :D), the car will always run better if you keep opening it up, the LS1 loves it ;)
Go get yourself Mafless edit, exhaust and 3.91 diff gears from a sponser, then you will really have a performance car
