Regarding things such as the boot spoiler, add-on's under the door sills and rear bumper on SS's ect, are these actually there for performance reasons or there purely for looks? I know there would be both form and function aspects to these, but which takes precedence?

Nawdy - they are designed with both in mind. Designers and engineers work more closely together than ever before when it comes to car design so you couldn't say one rates higher than the other.

C'mon they are there for looks, not performance primarily. One overiding factor is that the optional add on should not impede performance ie: a spoiler on the boot should/must not change the handling of the car in a negative fashion....if it happens to improve it then its a bonus rather than a requirement.
