come on lots of views. no one knows anything about this brand of rim ?
bad comments or good please...
The badge in the middle says "starcorp" which are the same brand that I have on my supra... but mine are called "Impul" so not sure where the HP branding comes into it... but I've been very happy with my rims 18 x 9.5

Well, I think they will look good. I like a wheel with some 'dish'.
You know you're going to need bigger brakes to fill the empty spaces :-)

Just make sure there not a 18 x 7.5rim as the max tyre size you can fit is 245 series and believe me, you will notice a difference in traction.
I'm selling my current mags for that reason alone.
I ordered a set of the Impul's in 18x8.5 with 245/40 Nankang ns2 the other day delivered for $1900

Not a big fan of the bolts around the rim, but apart
from that I reckon they look nice. What colour car
you putting them on? I have 18x8 Advanti Stalkar
in shadow chrome on mine, Mrs picked them out
for me because I just couldn't make my mind up,
Its a hard decision getting the right wheels isnt it?

interested to see what the Impuls look like on an SS, shame you can't go to 9.5?

yeah, i wanted 9.5" for the rear but there is none in stock. not for a commodore at least.
Maybe they can't fit a 9.5 to a commodore? I have 8.5 in the front... they still look nice, but you lose alot of dish.

those impul are nice too that was 2nd on the list. maybe first now those other are 7.5" only, and they are out of stock for 2 weeks. not that i'm in a rush, like to see two on the car first

Definitely have them put on the car before buying.
It is very hard to tell what they will look like without
seeing them on the car.

Tempe wont do that it doesnt make sense to fit out a rim with a tyre and you dont buy.
Saw some smart alec try this last time I was there they sent him packing.

Didn't get mine from Tempe, and not a smart alec
all of the time, but did buy mine after seeing them
on the car. Doubt they would send someone packing
though, there are that many wheels on the market
these days that they are all keen for a sale.

just the rims would do if they don't have any display ones
car is dark blue
been waiting for a good almost new set for some time, not much luck so thought stuff it a new package will do
those monaco rims look ok, but not after full chrome prefer flatter spokes, i guess they tapper out so will fit 8.5" inside the guard. tempe don't list an 8.5 only 8 or 9's $250 each or 19 x 8.5".
the others being flatter spokes probably can't go that wide. thats why most rims are flush to the edge these days. the ones that bulge out from that are prone to gutter scrapes on the spokes.
options now i'm getting undecided.

i think i;ll get those look very similiar to the speedy ones but $700 cheaper. or the one that look like roh modena but are only $1900 with tyres..
how are those tyres anyway down on grip over the bridgies ?
I would also consider the ROH Fury's if you like that style of wheel, similar to above but without the studs around the rim. Only downside to them is that from memory I think they're around $500 each for 19x8.

Haven't really tested grip yet, but not as noisy as the bridgstones. I'm on holidays and have the kids at home, and having them in the car and testing outright grip isn't really a good thing to do

your right one of the first rims put next to the car !!! i like them i always have, close to the GTS style..think they are cheaper now as no longer carried ? not sure they had them cheap at Austs best and couldn't see them on roh website. thats a similiar colour to my car too shadow looks good on blue, chrome is good too but very overpowering full chrome. see the wheel coming before the car.
not sure about these with being able to scrape the spokes on the gutter which is why i am looking at those with lips to them. the lip gets some protection off the newer tyres unless you hit a little too hard.
my currents only have two very minor marks (and one wasn't me) in 4 years so i am careful.

As far as I know they're still available. Out of interest I looked them up, the price is still listed as $500+ per wheel for 19s, and near enough to the same for 18s. (found on roh.com.au listed in the passenger section)

Good to hear, nothing worse than seeing a nice car with gouges and scratches all over the wheels :)

yeah yeah still done nothing. too busy to get back over during the week, that place is a nightmare on a saturdays, to many ppl lined up.
what about this wheel, may ask about recoloring the spokes to shadow or something. may get them to put this rim up next to the car as well as the others see which one is best. this one covers the nuts up.

A few guys up here in QLD are running similar to the one in the top left hand corner and they look very nice on a Commodore. The only catch is if you get 19's they need big brakes otherwise the rotors look very small.

hows it going.
i went thru the whole 'which wheel do i like best' phase not too long ago. if u can do ur homework by using a photo-editting software to superimpose the wheel pics onto your car, it would make things a lot easier. i used adobe photoshop to do this to a pic of my car, as it wasnt convenient to locally find all the wheels side by side & try them against my car. i went with something a little different from the very common 5 spoke design & got the speedy spheres in 19" chrome from the good guys from tempe's, & they even delivered the package to my home in adelaide for free. i think the roundness/shape of the sphere's design compliments the bulgy body of the vt/vx nicely. anyway the centre cap says starcorp, like has been mentioned here before.
personally i wouldnt go for any of the 5 spokers with the studds around the edge, but i know its a personal taste
& go for 19's.....i mean, if ur lookin at a new 18" package then u might as well get the 19's......u know u want them.
what car are they going on? & the more u look at diff brand wheels, u will start to notice the same designs popping up under another name/brand.

no I don't particulary like the studs, just make it harder to clean, just most wheels seem to have them where i like the overall design.
think really leaning towards that last RTG rim now as soon as i find out about the quality etc plus its close by has a set and will try them on the car for me. not in a real hurry, probably in the next two weeks something will be on.
19's maybe two things i don't like about over 18's tyre price jumps and have to go smaller sidewalls again. the roads we have are not fantastic for small profiles, pot holes everywhere etc.

Not meaning to hijack but just wondering is there any reason why you cant put 45 series on to 18" rims and just get the speedo adjusted. The few tyre
dealers I have spoken are not really interested ?

hey nvs78, i got that same deal on the 19" 'speedy' spheres in chrome. nice wheel arent they!! not too sure about the starcorp center caps, if they are like a middle man that buy in bulk & put their name on the cap or if they are actually made buy them. anyhow im very happy with them & vt2vx dont let these starcorp caps put u off a particular set of wheels.
hey nvs78, what car are your 19" spheres on? i just wanna know how far its lowered & if u got the guards lipped. (mine are 19x8)

I finally got around to takin a pic of the new mags fitted, These are the Impuls from Tempe Tyres. For commodores they have gold studs.
They are shadow chrome with a chrome lip. 18 x 8.5" and look good with the PBR brakes behind.

Nice looking wheels Tre-Cool ... brakes look good as well ... are you going to lower it at all?
Tre-Cool
01-04-2005, 07:58 PM
it is lowered.
I used to have lovell superlows, but went back to just lows because if was a pain in the arse for speedhumps, and crappy roads on the drive to qld and back. Plus you have to drive around dead things on the road more often because of the lack of height under the body.
I do mostly highway cruising due to my location and when it was dropped on it's guts, it looked good but served no real purpose. Plus with the big difillipo's and twin 3" exhaust system on now it's as low to the ground as i'd like.
my driveway is also slightly slanted to the rear end, so it's probably a little decieving.
It's also good to see that even though the mags are dirty (havent cleaned them for 2 weeks) it looks clean in the picture.
