Don't like the colour but Phantom Black would look a treat. I wouldn't say no to one. :)

A good looking model progression from the VS SV5000... but they should have made it in phantom black with the grey inserts again... this colour will look old very quickly... and it looks too similar to the Hyper colour that came out in '01

a lot of money to pay for a re-badged clubby with a PDA....
Guys:
"Note: 30 of the first 50 vehicles will come in Devil Yellow the remainder will be Phantom Black."
:)
So a standard R8 is worth $70 grand.
Or you can buy one now with a PDA (not even a good brand) for $80,000.
Go and buy yourself an R8, spend another $2000 on a laptop and then buy a copy of HPTuners for $1000 and you'll have the same car, be able to do 10 times what the HSV_DIL_DO system can do, and you'll be $7,000 better off.
Can you imagine how the SV6000 will sell when it's five years old (and the PDA is long dead) and you've got to explain why your SV6000 has a slot in the centre console that holds a piece of toast.

I think that scarcity will keep the price slightly higher than if is was a Clubby... i know what you mean... but the SV6000 won't have build numbers going into the ,000's

Don't you mean the VN SV5000? :deal:
And they should have painted it the same British Racing Green as the original SV5000 ..... still offer the Phantom ones, but BRG would have been a much better option than Devil Yellow. From what I've seen on the street, Devil suits the Monaro/Coupes just fine, but screams "Too Much Yellow!" when on a sedan - especially with no second colour highlights are used like this car

Yep but the standard R8 Clubbie doesn't get the 6 Piston AP's ($3750), The Tyre Pressure monitors ($1400) and the Xenon Headlamps ($1800).. I think the R8 gets the 4 Piston AP's but this one is upgraded to the GTS/AP's.
The PDA with NAV system would be worth about $1500. You could probably do it yourself cheaper but Holden would value it between 1500-2000 realistically.
So in hindsight, a R8 Clubby @ 71K, plus 8.5K in extras is why they are asking for 80K!

Sorry to say folks, but the Devil Yellow color has always been and will always be a coupe color for me. It just doesn't sit right on a sedan.
I see the new XR6 with their yellow and immediately think taxi. The color looks fine on their utes, but on a Sedan, the color just doesn't go.
Feel sorry for those Devil Yellow Monaro owners.
Cheers,
Steve

Oh yeah, sorry... i was thinking of the SLR5000 that they had in the VS... but even to link it with the old VN, they could have used maybe a slight variation on the VX Clubby British Racing Green they had..?

I quite like the colour. It'll get you noticed.
Quote fromn web site - Maybe the subtle yet eye catching styling enhancement of the wide colour-coded stripe along the doors looks better in the flesh.

What the hell are HSV thinking with the location of the PDA. How the hell are you supposed to look at the centre console as a navigational tool.
The location under the radio is bad enough trust me.

Perhaps the execution isn't 100% but the thinking certainly is. I think most enthusiasts like to have as much information about what the car is doing at their disposal. Depending on the systems car monitoring abilities it potentially shows the direction HSV is heading. I give them an "A" for effort at least.

You guys are forgetting the memorable GTS-R that came out - limited numbers in Yellow that are worth a lot of money now....
Also, your missing this car has the Xenon lights, TPM system, GTS style AP racing brakes.
Well worth the money I would say.
Cheers

They also had a blueprinted HRT optimised engine which was the most powerful in any Aussie production vehcile of the time IIRC.
This vehicle is a Clubby with cosmetic fruit.
Anyone who's really going to be interested in the throttle position and other data after a belt on the track could most likely afford HPTuners which will give them a lot more data than the 4 types that the PDA logs. $80K is sure getting up there for a car that is being marketed toward those who want to test their mettle on a track, but offers no "performance" improvements over the standard clubby R8...

I agree completely. The VZ munro looks great in yellow but the sedans not a chance.
My first memory of the SV5000 was having to move the sales manager's one at a company I worked in the very early 90's. I had to move it to get the work van out and as soon as I turned it over I could hear the gorgeous burble. So I gave it a boot and around 20 alarms went off. While I wasn't a fan of the VN shape, the SV5000 back then looked great!
The SV6000 is the same (in marketing terms) as the VTII SV99.
You see (as with the SV99) HSV don't have a flagship car at the moment (GTS), so as a stop gap measure they produce an R8 with all the fruit which they can sell to customers who would normally buy a GTS.
What's the bet that once the SV6000 exercise is over, HSV will announce the new VZ GTS........

Obviously you haven't tried to buy a Holden satnav. The price charged by HBD is closer to $4K, and that's with a CDROM unit, not the DVD version.

Wish they'd build something with balls.
No leather, No radio, No carpet
Just bucket seats and a roll cage. Build 400 odd and invest in the mop market to clean up the drool :eyes:
Dammit, I want a track car bad :(

SV88 sounds right to me.

Like an HRT 427 but not as 'silly'?
That's kinda the philosophy of the VN ClubSport - the lightest production Commodore with just the bits you need to go fast and go round corners

Sounds like you are hanging out for the new GTS-R that was outlined in Wheels a couple of issues back! Anyone know if production of that car is going ahead?

should probably take my age out... :)

Are you sure that was an actual factory car? Or just something someone decided to call their car by putting some stickers on it?..... e.g. I seen a a VS getting around with a fake HSV bodykit and badges and stickers all over it saying "Predator" ... but HSV never made such a model so he was just being "creative" (the grunty 3.8 under the boonet had me scared! )

Yes, the Commodore SLR5000 was a 'legit' model. It was a Melbourne dealer Group special build in VS

I saw it in the flesh at the MMS, and couldn't see the point in it... Apart from being a stop-gap measure until the GTS.
It looked average in Devil also, and the wheels looked dated... Could have at least had some bespoke wheels. I also had no idea what the PDA was for, and now I know, it's even more pointless
I didn't look at it for any longer than it took to walk around it, look inside and think "what the f&$k?"

Your thinkin of the GTS-R mate, SLR5000 is a Torana, still a f*cken good car though.

Hmmm DDI
I have had something similar in my new Gto for months now with a PDA with a far better cradle mount system than the Hsv Mount
But I do not have the data interface
But I have the following benefits
Broadband mobile internet and email via the cdma network
Phone intergrated with Pda and Car audio system. With voice control on answering and calling contacts Hands free
Voice sms (hands free)
Service and Log book software which alarms you when to book in a service
in advance Or DIY people what parts you need to pick up.Also set up fuel consumptiom trip history Etc etc No limit of software or options avail in this area.
Gps and tracking software ( can track car via cdma network if stolen in general area) and audio directions. same or better that the sv6000 system
Games -Great feature
Blue tooth
Mp3 player-- Still to be set up in Cars audio system. using via fm modulator at this time. ( works pretty well though).
Removable clip on phone/pda ( not sure if the SV6000 is removable)
There are heaps more you can do once with a PDA there is so much software
available.
I will try and post some pics soon
and the most important option Hsv Gto 18 Red Picture Background with caption
I JUST GOT ONE!
LOL
I could go on all night
