For those that were wondering what power the stage 3 package would make with a 6ltr block, the results are in. The car was run this afternoon and made, 8TB intake
497rwhp. Idling at about 720rpm
Car feels very nice to drive. Power is great and the light throttle stuff (cruising) feels great too. The car will be at the Gold Coast 1st, 2nd and 3rd of April for the Dutton Rally for anyone that wants to catch up for a beer. Supposedly there is a big event for the Dutton in the heart of the gold coast Sat night in some big carpark where a course will be set up. Hope to see a few of you there.

About the same power as a V8 Supercar, sweet  If im after that cam you used, do i just ask for the 'f*cken big' one? :) Good to see a dyno graph of what the engine really makes cause going by the chassis dyno figure and most peoples calculations, it would really be making about 670fwhp ;)

You know how I drive and it scared the Shiiit out of me first run. Accelleration is incredibly fast.

F#cken big is exactly right. Sam will know the one you are talking about.
Eng and chassis graphs are always good to see together. An engine dyno gives a true reading of HP and torque without all the variables such as exhaust etc etc. I have seen to engines make nearly the same power as each other on the dyno and then make a big difference once in the car. Go figure.
Due to the variables of power runs on a chassis dyno, each engine Sam builds is run first on the engine dyno. It takes a bit longer but is well worth it

Great work to Sam and his boys, There is a 10s pass there if the set up is right.
Cheers Criso :D

That is one tuff engine Darren. Thats going to be a very competitive car. So what capacity is the engine? You said 6 litre block, the dyno sheet says 5.7, but i imagine it is atleast a 383.

just a guess, but the top dyno sheet is called "412 short bruce" ...412ci???

Its a 6 ltr alloy block. That gives me a chance to lie and say 346ci, but its a 412ci. I generally never get a print out of the run hence why bother changing all the details. The 346 on the graph would have been previous details that nobody bothered changing.

Short Bruce means
Short inlet Trumpets
Bruce means Charleston Exhaust Pipes. (even though Bruce is short) We ran a few pipes and Charlestons came up with the goods.
I am trying to convince Sam to have a bit of an education day for those of us that want to know how different things effect our cars such as fuels, air box mods, tune change etc etc. When on the eng Dyno you can see the diff small things make.
I watched a 725hp single Carb ford eng on the eng dyno last night and seen the difference of 2 supposedly identical fuels (Octane wise) through the same eng and one lost 30hp. No other change except fuel. These fuels were suppose to be exactly the same just differing brands.
Great stuff there Darren and Sam, all the best for the Dutton Rally, would love to go for a spin some time and see how a Sam special goes.
good luck Josh
